Smoked out...

I finally decided to smoke out my emblem "A".
Things that are need:
1.Black silicone.
2.Sandpaper grain 1000 or 2000.
3.Dishwashing sponge (only need it when you messed up, use it to scrub it off).
4.Plastic fork.
5.Painter's Touch(semi-gloss), Rust-Oleum (Brilliant Metal Finish).

Not necessary need it

Use debadging method to take the "A" sign off. Be careful not to break the two plstic part from the back.
Once you have the acura sign out....

Start sanding it down so that paint can stick it the emblem.

Once the you are done with sanding, make sure you wash it well..
Now, painting time...This is when you use the fork to hold it up so that you can cover all the area.

After first coating w/ Painter's Touch. (It might require some sanding to even out the paint)

let it dry for 2-3 hours then second coating w/ Painter's Touch again.

let it dry for another 2-3 hours then finish it off w/ Rust-Oleum.

use the silicone stuff to glue it back on.
Tada....

Enjoy it.

If you get an answer on this one, please post it, because that's the only thing keeping me from going ahead with this mod!

I did this mod quite some time ago, on my PWP. The back emblem is held in place by two adhesive pads (one on the top and one on the bottom), and of course the two prongs that stick out of the back of the emblem. Those prongs insert into two little holes filled by for lack of a better word "washers." What I did to get them to fit properly was take the two plastic washers out and flatten the top surface portions that plug the holes. After that, I put some glue into the holes and then inserted the prongs to re-attach the "A." It slid right in and is mounted flush with the bumper.

not on me right now, I'm not on my home computer. I can try and post some a little later on. All in all, with a little bit of thinking it's an extremely easy mod that I think creates a nice look.

alright, update time...
Today, I went the dealer to see what type of glue they were using to hold the emblem and found out that they use some type of double sided tape. I asked them, if I can get some from them but they tried to charge me $27.99 so I left the dealer. I went to local auto supply shop (not napa or shucks) and found what I need. Its called "3M Nameplate Repair Tape". You gonna need to trim the tape to fit the emblem but this should hold up the emblem without damaging the paint, or any mess.

Things that I tried and didn't worked out.
1.) Regular 3m double sided tape (it was way too thick)
2.)Black silicone (too weak to hold against the paint, too much mess, didnt balanced out the emblem)

The easiest way to get the best result on the emblem.
1.) paint it over with Brilliant Metal Finish.
2.) with in 20min, repaint it with Semi-gloss.
3.)with in another 5min, repaint it over with Brilliant Metal Finish.
4.) Don't touch it until for aleast 6-7 hours or even more.
* Use the plastic fork, this really helps a lot.

The reason that I recommend following my step because that is the best result I ever got from it. I tried aleast 20-30 times but never came out right. By following my step, it is still glossy and strong enough to hold the paint well. I tried the semi-gloss alone but it was too hard to keep it perfect, and almost impossible not to chip it off. The paint itself was way too thin. I tried fucking 3 days on semi-gloss only and didnt worked out so I went with Brilliant Metal Finish.

It actually came out really nice. The sparkle gives it an OEM look, almost like you purchased another one. Looks like you've managed to match the inner grill color. Good work.

To be honest, I was bit skeptical with this project at first, but WOW! I am really impressed with that look. It really does look OEM. I would also get some new license plate frames to clean up the look.

Did you decide on what wheels you are going to invest in? Or are you already looking into getting your next car?
