Removing Interior Ambient Lighting?

Hello all,

I'm the proud new owner of an '06 TSX and absolutley love the car. I have it in MR/Parchment 6MT and I searched high & low to get this combination.

Anyway, I don't like the look of the blue ambient lighting on the tan interior at night. I would like to remove the single blue LED that is up by the dome lights so the only ambient lighting I have comes from just below the A/C & radio controls.

I've seen plenty of DIY articles about replacing the dome lights, but nothing about changing the ambient lighting. Does anyone have a guide they can point me to so I can do this the right way without breaking anything?

Hmm...that's an interesting request. I would put some of the blue painters tape on it for awhile, just to make sure you actually want to remove it. That way you don't end up doing it and not liking. I like that light actually

You should be able to disconnect the power going to it. Search for posts on hardwiring radar dectectors. That will show you how to remove the sunglass holder and light area.

but your not driving an italian sports car.. its an Acura.. dammit.. lol.. as for the light.. just find a small rubber plug.. (actually if you can find an old Motorola 120C peanut phone).. there is a rubber plug on the back that would actually fit in that hole..

Is it that bad enough to go through hard work? I would just live with it. Its not even that bright enough to noticed it at night time.

Use these instructions, they're for the Accord, but they should be similar enough, if not identical.

Just remove the LED once you have it open...

Yeah, I know a lot of people like the blue light (and actually go through all the interior lights and make them blue), but for some reason I don't. I don't want to kill ALL the ambient lighting, just the one on the roof. The ones below the radio I like.

I didn't realize it was a hole... plugging it might be a good idea. I honestly didn't think it would be that much prying/digging to remove the LED... but I think I'm going to.

Right on... red and tan is a classic/rich color combo that I've always loved.
