AT to MT conversion

I was just wondering if anyone has converted their Automatic Transmission to a Manual trans? How difficult would it be? I'm just looking in to the future when my car goes from the daily street driver to the track monster.

Did a little search, but didn't find anything. JT, you hear of anything before?

Wouldn't it make more sense selling your AT then buyin' another MT instead of doing the swap?? Just my opinion

Don't bother. It's not worth the time and money. It's better to trade in the AT for the MT. A lot of people did.

I think a few people wanted to try this out but it seemed like it'll be WAY too much work to get it done. I would say just trade your car in and get a 6MT, however you've definately put a lot of work into your car... Maybe someone else has the exact details of what it costs.

Try searching the CL or TL forums for a Auto to Manual swap. I've read one before but don't really remember, it apparently costs a lot more than just a tranny and clutch

Cost me $1100 CAD. I just looked for another 04 with roughly the same mileage and worked out a deal. Thats probly your best bet.

That's really the best way. Otherwise, parts alone would be way more than that.

Also, you might as well get an 06 with some of the new features. Or better yet, wait for an 07.

That would have cost me $15K

Plus I would have had to spend 2k more for new wheels.

^^ Dang that's pricey. Yeah maybe a used 05 MT would be fine too.

But you were leasing right?

No way I was spending 15K for essentially the same car.

Yeah, but I terminated my lease early by having the dealer buy out the remainder of my lease and start a new lease. I still had around 17 months left on my lease when I got the 06.

And yeah, I don't blame you for not wanting to spend the 15k. That's quite a bit of money.

K! So no one has done it yet then? It was just a thought. I'm never going to get rid of my baby! Still got 962,000 miles to go before I reach my goal. Maybe I will just get an 04MT if I take the track seriously in the future. Thanks for the info! For now I will just use the Sport Shift on the track.

Any WA TSXers wanna join me at Pacific Raceway to pick up our first license?

Dude...I always wanted to a MT too...but I thought people said there's a lot to change. Tranny, clutch, ECU, and some of the parts have different placements than the AT...it's just a big hassle...

My plan is to just save up and lease a nice performance MT Coupe or buy a cheap MT EK or ITR for track....but....so much money..
