moda_way's Comptech I/H/E, RT Cat, and Hondata dyno
I just got back from the dyno. A good experience, but not exactly the results I was hoping for having the Comptech I/H/E, RT Cat, Hondata Reflash and Heatshield. I have video of the runs too, which I'll be posting to Google Video as soon as I finish editing.
If there was ONE positive result from the dyno runs, it was that I learned the quiet tips have almost ZERO affect on the performance of the car. That was good news IMO.
It is also worth noting, I only gave the car about 15-20 mins to cool off. The intake manifold was still warm to the touch.
First Run, no quiet tips.
Summary:

160.2 ft lbs.
a/f ratio: 13.5-14.5
Second Run, no quiet tips (car cooled off for 15-20mins)

161.4 ft lbs.
a/f ratio: 13.5-14.0
Third Run, with quiet tips (car cooled off for 5 mins)

Do you happen to have a baseline dyno with the car in stock setup to compare?
Otherwise, those look like some decent numbers for the bolt-ons. I've seen some other TSX's dyno at lower numbers with similar setups.

Yeah, I think those are good too. If you were hoping for higher numbers, I wouldn't worry about it. That dyno might read lower there others. Too bad you don't have a baseline dyno. The big thing you want to look at is the improvement of your own numbers.
You should ask the dyno operator if he has any other TSX dynos stored.
Can't wait to see the video though! And you going to do any more engine mods? Pulleys?

dynos in the states must be calibrated differently to the ones in Australia. If I reached 140kw (190hp) at the wheels with just those mods I'd be over the moon. For reference a stock s2000 here would only put out no more than 130kw and a modified DC5R (including ecu tuning) about 125kw.
Anyway, don't get caught up on the numbers - I'm sure you've felt the difference the modifications have made and enjoy driving the car more, and thats all that should matter.

Calling on JTso or others to comment on the a/f ratio. The tuner guy seemed to feel it was just a little too lean. My thought is its Hondata being a little conservative. I was thinking the 12.5 to 13 ratio range.

Yeah it does look a little too lean. Should be down a little lower in open loop mode. You have your a/f ratio graph? I think JTso has some of his around. You should compare your numbers to his.
And Hondata usually would make it more rich to be conservative I believe. This will help protect you from running too lean. Being lean aka closer to 14.7 usually generates more power though.
Hopefully JTso will come around to comment more though. My knowledge of a/f ratios is mostly with my forced induction setup.

mod, props on the clips and graphs. i can imagine your frustration ... i have an 05 auto without a reflash of course, so i'm too scared to get a dyno (then again, i don't know of one in the tampa bay area). i would expect that the rt cat would've put you over the top. maybe it's time for a set of pulleys. some people notice a bit rougher idle, but i didn't - could be because i installed hks circle earth ground wire kit at the same time. one thing's for sure, the old tsx is exponentially more fun to drive with my mods, so number might not matter too much after all!

I'm not a dyno expert by any stretch, but it seems to me that a chassis dyno's only real value is in comparing "before" and "after" runs on the same dyno under similar conditions. My best on a Mustang dyno was 184 whp, that was a 25 whp increase over my baseline, meaning I added roughly 30 bhp and that was exactly what I expected.
What was your baseline, moda?

Yeah, I tried. They ran the dyno s/w off of a Windows 98 platform and the USB Flash, if you remember 98, isn't support like USB out of Win 2k or XP. Of course their burners weren't working either. Typical grease monkey shyt. I actually had to fix some of their stuff. Sorry, I don't have the data files.

Btw, I think moda's a/f is a little on the lean side during WOT. The a/f on my setup got a little leaner when I have the test pipe on. Here is the a/f comparison.
Red = test pipe
Blue = high flow cat
