loudest exhaust?
hi everyone, i tried searching but all i could find were some lousy low quality sound clips and i know that they would sound different in real life. my question is which aftermarket exhaust is the loudest for the tsx. i currently have the dc sport and i love the low rumble of it but i think i might want something louder.. (i miss my teggy). ive only seen a few modded tsx's around atlanta and so i have no idea what the other exhausts sound like in real life. so maybe you guys in california or whereever could help me out?
thanks ahead of time

I think dc sports is already loud, almost to the borderline civic sounding. It has a nice tone but its a bit too loud or drone for my comfort. Add a test pipe or even an highflow cat and that thing be a few db higher...
my fujitsubo is the quiet one and as soon as i got headers ad a highflow cat it opened up pretty nicely.

A little too loud Jason.

almost any exhaust on the TSX without header and cat is a bit on the quiet side. I have the comptech cat back, header, and RT cat and I don't think it's all that loud, at cruising speed you can barely hear it, it's loud on hard pulls, or up hills that's about it. But before header and cat it barely sounded louder than stock.
How about that J's Racing exhaust I hear so much about, is that loud?

and as far as cops being dicks to loud exhausts they are generally pretty cool about it because the white kids with those lifted trucks are most of the time louder than any import anyways
ive looked into the hello kitty exhaust but its too pricey for me, gains i hear are terrific though

According to my observations and dyno results, the header being the first exhaust mod did increase the sound from the engine bay slightly most likely due to thinner header tubing and lack of heat shield. Very slight increased in exhaust tone. Power increase is very noticeable across the entire rpm range. The Metal' cat didn't add any noticeable sound from the outside, but the exhaust tone is ever so slightly increased. The gain is similar to the header across the entire rpm range. The overall gain is not as much as the header but the cat compliments the header very well. The exhaust on the other hand did increase the exhaust tone but with only minimal power gain when team up with the header and cat.

You can get a T1R test pipe for $184 from AJ. I still think it would be worth upgrading the cat. You will still get gains from it.

And to be more on-topic, whoever said Tanabe exhaust is the loudest is insane, I run the Tanabe MT on my 04 with an Injen CAI and it's damn quiet. At idle you can hardly tell I have a catback (except right at startup, where it hums nicely for a while until the engine warms up). Under throttle cruising at 70-80mph on the freeway it's BARELY there. You hear it when going up hills or flooring it though. If you want loud dont' buy Tanabe.

^ no most of the bolt on exhausts are not going to net any noticable gain. in fact with my dc sport exhaust i feel like i lost torque. but that might be due to a leak somewhere iono.

^the exhaust opens the engine up allowing it to breathe better, so the meager gains are met at the high end and you do lose a pinch of torque from that. That would then lead us into back pressure vs. no back pressure. Or how much back pressure is optimal.... That's a very very long debate that's been going on for years lol

^i dont know about that.. at least for the tsx. maybe if you went with a single outlet exhaust that might be true but most of the catback systems are dual canister and on an I4 engine they dont net shit for gains lol :p
look at the dyno charts, most of them typically only show like a 1-3 hp increase.

That's funny... I've ridden in DAYTA's ride (06) with the same setup as you, moda, plus the Icebox... and it's really not that loud. A little louder than my Tanabe, and raspier, but not "hear it from two miles away ricer" loud.
Jason, care to comment?

I have the Icebox too, but you'd never know it was there. Funny, perception from another forum member out loudness. I know you can hear mine from a mile away, but not two. lol
