Injen CAI problem post install

What the heck is the "EVAP case"?

I was enjoying my new CAI self install took it on about a 20 mile drive came home popped the hood and noticed the EVAP case had come undone from the small pipe insert that joins the two pices together... I needed to get a bit more slack from the hose that connects to the engine... it proved a bit difficult to get off (now the dumb part) so i spit down the tube and worked it around. well the spit worked at getting the tube disconected... but when i put everything back together, I started it up.... fine at idle... but wide open in nutral, it tends to flood out or lose power when it hits 5k rpms or so until I let off the throttle.
What did I screw up? can I make it better?

Incidentally, did the DC Header last night and think the bastard is leaking a tad at the exhaust manifold gasket (I used the original - new one is on order)

Thanks for anyones help.

Mine was coming disconnected once in a while too (if you're talking about the 1.5" long tube w/ the hose clamps on each end).

I just adjusted it carefully, making sure the lengths were equal on each side.

If all else fails and it keeps happening after tightening the clamps, go to a hardware store with the piece-in-hand and get a similar tube but 1/2" longer or so -- problem solved.

As for your exhaust, I'd say its likely the exhaust manifold gasket.

I also just completed the Coolant Intake Manifold bypass mod all at the same time.

Any thoughts on the "flooding out" or power diving around 5k rpm?

Okay, another update.
I just tried slow steady throttle and the tach bounces on 4500 rpm like it's governing or something.

Last resort... sure. Somehow I don't think anything would change by doing that though. Everything was fine till I spit in that damn thing. Wish I knew what the EVAP case was. Is it possible the computer has kicked in some fail safe mode because it doesn't like what I did?

Well don't I feel stupid.
I just took the car out for a spin... couldn't replicate the problem. I was allowed to redline... So I started thinking... maybe there is a lower governing point when stationary or with e-brake on.
after various scenarios... i.e. brakes on/off... clutch in/out.... as long as you are moving at least 1mph so the speedo says... you can rev above 4500 rpm.
Would someone else mind confirming their 2004 TSX behaves in the same manner?

HAHAHAHA, actually now that you mention it, I recall reading in the manual (I think) that there are TWO fuel cutoff points -- one at the normal above-redline point (7600?), and one at a much lower point when under NO load (ie: neutral).

That is what you were experiencing.

Yep, there is a lower rev limiter when stopped.

For the evap hose problem - buy 2 of the clamps that you tighten with screws to replace the spring clamps they gave you. Center the hose evenly and you should be fine. I, and a few others, had the same problem. Too lazy to look for the old thread. Try searching.
