Fuel system cleaners

Do you guys use any fuel injection system cleaners? I used to use 1 bottle on every oil change on my 96 Camry. I don't know when I should start using it on my 06 TSX.

thanks!

I do not. Have no reason thus far and can't see a need.

I add a bottle of Redline Fuel Injection cleaner at every oil chage (5k miles). This is good stuff - well worth the $8 investment every 5k miles. I have put this stuff in friend's cars, and have actually noticed the cars run smoother. On a newer car, you probably won't feel much of a difference, but it will definitely help to keep the fuel system clean and running smooth. My

Yea, the injector cleaners are useful. However, normally I don't follow the guidelines of 1 bottle with X litres of petrol. I prefer to use it more concentrated and half the numbers, so that it wipes off the moisture and dirt in the lines and injectors. Best would be to run it twice over 2 weeks so that it could clean up as much it could...but the worse carbons are in the engines....stubborn ones...need a port and polish...

Those kinds of products have high placebo efficiency.

With 240,000km on my TSX and no foreign additives (including Shell V-power and Petro-Canada Ultra clean), the engine still runs as smooth and powerful as it's younger days, post break-in.

Only additive I use is non-petrochemical, it's acetone and it's aimed at improving fuel economy only.

BTW, a port & polish will do nothing for your carbon buildup in the engine.

i've talked to some mechanics and they said that its not nessesarry for fuel injector cleaners for the newer cars, and he said something about the gas having some additive that will clean your injectors (includes regular octane)

Just use good gas and you don't have to spend a dime on those fuel injector cleaning products.

i agree..fuel system cleaners seem to only work on high mileage cars..even people on my old board, cb7tuner, thought an engine with 80k miles wouldn't benefit

Thats the problem.. 8 people in ny got busted.. they bought 87 in NJ and sold it in NY to gas stations as 93... sure some people notice but its too late... its already in the car, etc... specially when oil closed at 77/barrel today

Hey dude, thanks for the reply. I read the stuff and bascially, you just add to the fuel and let it rob away the carbon build up and moisture along the lines. In colder climates, this happens. In warmer climates, we tend to get more water in the fuel. We run on 95 or 98 octane. Euro R tuned for 100Oct in Japan. The octane does boost the car power but we learn to make sure that the injectors are kept real clean...

Best option is to take out the injectors and clean them ultrasonic...but use this fuel cleaners as the lazy man option ....
