Precyse, best of luck to you and please keep us updated on this ongoing issue.
Congrats Cobalt. It always helps when your local to the manufacturer. If you have any problems I would just drive the car straight to DC/AEM and complain.

I'm still hoping that PrceyseStylez had one of the older versions. We'll have to see what he says though.

I decided to take a couple pictures of one of the DC Sports headers I have for the TSX. These are the ones I'm selling at https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/dc-sports-header-groupbuy-tsx-04-cl-tl-317085/ . According to DC Sports this is the latest version. My box sales 8/15/05 as the manufacture date and here are the pics. Notice the new welds:

Excelerate, those look like the new header(s). Did Precyse get his off of you? From his posts it doesn't sound like it. You're an awesome vendor and I doubt you'd leave someone out in the rain like that.

I am selling the new headers. I don't know where Precyse got his from. The pictures I posted were taken from one of the actual headers I have for sale and are here in stock at my shop.

Damn That sucks. Can you take some pics of the header after you take it off of the car?

Is your car lowered? Do you do a lot of hard launches?

No..the car isn't lowered. I've done a few hard launches that have produced some nasty wheel hop..but i havent really raced with the header but about 7 or 8 times..but about 4 of them were launches with wheel hop.. the header shouldn't break reguardless at this early stage..

I agree. I was just wondering. I already have a DC header installed. I got mine tack welded before the install, but I was still wondering if there was anything I could do to help prevent mine from breaking. I do a lot of hard launches myself, so I just wanted to see how often you were doing them.

So here's an update on my DC Header install. Everything went well with the install shop and I did get the new(er) version of the header. According to my mechanic/rep he told me that he had to push the exhaust a little to make it connect to the header. I guess there is an issue with it not being long enough. Even though in this "newer" version, it has been extended (about 1") it still isn't long enough.

Performance-wise it seems to make a difference. But then again, my butt-dyno is not the most sensitive. It seems to pull from 3K on. There is a hissing-ish sound that does come from the area, which I'm told is normal. So I guess if the hissing is extreme, then you may be having a problem.

I'm just glad that I have the peace of mind of having my shop warranty the Header for me. So if anyone in Socal is interested, Street Image will warranty all header(s) that are purchased and installed through them. $280 for the header, $100 for the installation. And if anything happens, they will replace your defective header with a new one and will deal with the warranty claim themselves. Definitely a customer-oriented shop.

Precyse, good luck on your warranty claim and keep us updated.

Well, that does it. Version 2 is still too short. I guess I have to wait for version 3 or go with another header.

You know, I got curious one day and wanted to find out how much shorter the DC header is in relationship to the exhaust system. It turns out that it has a relatively small gap of about 8mm or 5/16" of free length.

You're the expert here JTso. I was just relaying the message from my installer.

I guess he had to push back on the exhaust to make it link up to the flex pipe on the header. I guess this little amount can be (possibly) one of the causes of the problems everyone here has been having. I'm still interested in seeing Precyse's header to see where and how it came apart, esp. being the newer header.

Yes, the little gap does increase the stress on the rubber hangers and possibly the flex pipe joint. I did increase the length on my cat to make up the difference in length. I'm curious to see PrecyseStylez's flex pipe as well.

It was pricey, but then again, if anything happens to it, I get a brand new one and don't have to deal with warranty issues. The shop will take care of the warranty. So the $100 paid for 1 hour of installation + peace of mind.

Ya, no such luck here. But then anyone who is in the military should get our respect as well as some breaks.

Stock Header is now on and everything sounds normal! I havent driven it hard to tell the difference without the DC Header..but the car sounds normal..
