CAI vs. Ice Box

I was just wondering what the difference is between the CompTech ice box and a CAI? I bought an Injen CAI, but a lot of places recommend the CompTech Ice Box, why?

Better low end torque and top end power (if I recall correctly). It is also a bit more quiet too.

EDIT: If you search, you'll find dyno comparisons.

The Icebox replaces only the top of the stock air filter box (with a more voluminous one) and the plumbing below the bottom of the stock air filter box (with a snorkel). The Injen replaces the entire intake assembly, including the intake tube leading from the air filter box.

Here is a thread where Asahi did a dyno comparison of the two: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...154#post709154

Is there a reason why CompTech ice box is cheaper?

I read on that dyno thread that the Hondata would be the best upgrade to increase power. What does that do exactly and where can I get it?

Seriously, this site has 4+ years of information about everything on the TSX.

Here is our Hondata Reflash thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=Hondata . I know its a lot of posts but practically every conceivable question about the reflash has been asked and answered in this thread.

Here is a link to Hondata's website: http://www.hondata.com/reflash_tsx.html . You will find info on what it does and who to contact to get it done.

BTW, The search function is really helpful here. To find the Hondata thread above I searched on "hondata" and made sure I selected the option of looking in thread titles only. Give it a try, its very handy.

How loud is the icebox over stock?

Im assuming in order of loudness goes something like SRI - CAI - Icebox - Stock...?

Not sure, but I HOPE is as quiet as the stock one (I'm talking about Icebox) - I love the silence of the engine

PS> Taz, thanks for the link, tough they seem to ship only in North America but I'll keep looking ...

Icebox sounds practically like stock when you're just puttering around town. It only sounds louder and more aggressive when you nail the throttle and get up over 3500-4000 rpm. Do a search on sound clips, I believe someone posted a couple.
