Installing KPTechnolgies 1 touch sunroof module in a 2006 TSX (w/ pics!)
I just got around to installing this latest KPTechnolgoies module. I noticed as I followed moda_way's instructions that, as usual, the wire colors were different for the 2006 vs 2004 models. Its my opinion there can never be too many DIY's, so I took some pics of the process and, well, here you go:
1. Remove Sunroof / VSA switch panel:
If you get down low and look up from underneath this panel, you'll see 2 small slots on either side. Insert a flat screwdriver and pry outward, it will come out easily and if you're careful, no scratches and no marks.

After prying it out, I only had about 2 inches of extra cable length to work with, so just be careful with it, and release the two tabs, and you can remove both wire harnesses from their respective switches easily. Now, just like in moda_way's DIY, remove the lower panelling and pull these harnesses out from below. Mine were electrical taped together. Just remove the tape with a knife and pull apart the channelling plastic, and you'll have your sunroof harness.

2. Installing the KPTech wires
KP has made this installation super easy, thanks to providing the necessary diodes already installed on 2 short, color-coded pieces of wire. I used T-Taps for this entire installation. Soldering is the preferred method, as always, and T-Taps are only used (in my case) to test everything out before soldering things in later. As always, your mileage may vary.
I used 2 T-Taps to install the Diode specific wires onto the module's wiring harness in the proper order. Note how everything is nice and color coded! (green to green, blue to blue)

(yes, that's the blue wire, not purple. the flash does funny things to color in bad light.)
Now, with the sunroof harness tab facing toward you, cut the far left wire. For me, this wire was solid gray, with no stripe. Add the green wire to the switch side, and brown wire to the dash side.

Repeat on the far right side. For me, this wire was turquiose, with no stripe. Add the blue wire toward the switch side, and the brown wire toward the dash side.

Finally in this harness, and without cutting these wires (just T-Tap them for now) add the purple wire to the green middle wire (mine had no stripe, unlike the '04), and black to the black wire.
For the ignition wire (KP's yellow wire), you will still have to open up the large wire loom under the dash. There is a large gauge wire that is (as described) black with a solid yellow stripe down it in this wire loom. I used a mirror tool to easily locate it.

Without cutting the wire, use another T-Tap to add the yellow wire to this wire. Now you are done with the wiring install! Tape everything up together and start the car to test. For me, everyting went well on the first try, that's always nice!
3. Finishing things up:
If you desire to, and I highly recommend it, remove the T-Taps and solder your connections together. I used an extra section of wire loom to keep the front end of the wires together, and electrical tape liberally across the entire project.
The module had a lot of slack in the wires, so I tried to make it look neat and before zip-tieing it to the main wiring loom, the one where I found the ignition wire.

Put everyting back in place, and plug everthing back in again. Enjoy this simple, cheap, worthwhile mod.

Diffifulty: 2 out of 10.
Time to complete: 45 mins (with testing)
Cost: $40

Thanks for the great writeup Reach, this will really help. Got mine last week, will probably wait until spring to install it, though - hopefully there's nothing wrong with the module.
Just wondering...is there really that much benefit to installing the diodes to get the "one touch" for the pop-up and pop-down functions? Popping up/down only take about a second, anyways...takes nearly that long to hit the button twice.
Also, this may be a dumb question...but nobody's mentioned disconnecting the battery in any of the write-ups for this module. I guess there's no current going to any of these wires (including the ignition wire) as long as the key's not in the ignition?

The diodes come pre-installed w/ the product, just open up your bag and look. In my 3rd pictures, notice the short colored wire segment, then black shrink tubing, then brown wire? Under that black shrink tubing is the diode, connecting the wires. I actually left the T-Taps on to connect those 2 short sections to the main KP wires. Just electrical tape them up well.
I didn't disconnect the battery while I did mine. You probably should, but it won't blow up if you don't.

I know, and I'm not averse to installing the two little jumpers with the diodes in them, but I'm debating if having to click the buttons twice to raise/lower the roof is is any better than just holding them down for only 1.5 seconds...might even be more of a hassle to click twice.

Just got mine this evening and I'm off to dogsit for my chick friend. It's also about -25C in my garage, -13F for you americans, so my heater'll have to do some crazy double duty to warm up. I'll git-r-done tomorrow.
Nice writeup and yeah, 2006 wiring is diff from 2004s!

Just installed yesterday....works great...am going back in to install the diodes, wasn't sure if I needed that vent feature or not, but it is definitely worth it. So off to make the changes tonight. It was definitely a 2 outta 10 as Reach stated. Man this modding bug sure is a killer.
Note: Not sure if I did things wrong or what but interestingly, even without the diodes the vent feature "opens" with a double tap but still requires the button hold to close it.

Man, I wish I was good with electrical stuff. I would love to install this module. Its just an annoyance and PITA to sit there and hold that button in. Still surprised Acura/Honda didn't make this one touch.

This isn't that hard to install. I did it, and trust me when I say I am NO electrician. This is one of the easiest installs a person can do.

Honestly, find a buddy that is good with electrical stuff. It isn't hard at all.
I just installed this over the weekend since i blew out my tire trying to make it to the meet in VA. It was VERY easy thanks to Reach's install instructions assistance, as i have an 06 too. It ended up taking me about 45 mins due not taking the ignition wire all the way the first time and trying it out to find out that it didn't work....lol The hadest part was tapping that ignition wire due to the space confinement. I can't express how much i like this mod especially for the closing purposes!!!! Now, if i don't get a remote starter and have the guy do the window up feature, i will be getting that from KPTechnologies as well! Thanks for the details and pics Reach, another great AZ addition
I acutally wanted to edit my last post. Reach, and maybe a electrical type guy, do i HAVE to solder these connections? I used the wire T-Taps on all locations and then used electrical tape on both ends of the T-Tap to help prevent pull out and such but what reprocussions do i run if i don't solder them and just leave the T-Taps? (spelled reprcussions wrong i think....lol)
The only 'repercussions' of not soldering is that if a t-tap goes bad, the whole switch will likely stop working. If that happens, you know what caused it.
I got lazy and left mine t-tapped after I installed it. 7+ months later still not problems, and I don't expect any.
