Hey
I was just wondering what exactly a blowoff valve does. Also, are blowoff valves only useful on a turboed car, because my friend got a 240, and another guy is convinced it has a blowoff valve, but I don't think he is right.
Thanks

Yes, they're only for turbocharged cars. It releases excess pressure to allow for quicker spool times and to protect the impeller.

The 240SX was available in Japan and Europe with a turbo but not in the US, AFAIK.

It's quite a common swap here to bring JDM sr20det engines for the s13/14 (89-97? 240sx). You can also swap in a variety of JDM Nissan engines like the rb25/26 skyline blocks and some others from the 180sx. Your friend may also be turboed with the USDM ka24de engines as well.

BOV's are for turbo'd cars, your friend's car has a stock motor and does not have a turbo, therefore your friend does not have a BOV
