XM Signal, Little Weak Today.

I’ve had my 06 TSX for over a year and XM has always performed flawlessly. I usually drive the same route to work with same number of overpasses, underpasses and tall buildings to my left/right. XM would never cut out except if I was stopped under a bridge because of traffic or light.

Today, I’ve notice the XM was cutting in/out under every underpass and even around tall buildings. Has anyone else notice any unusual XM signal problems? Is there a problem with sun spots, down XM satellite, odd weather patterns, etc..

I’m in the Albuquerque with hazy but blue skies above.

Me too. Had my '06 about 2 months now. No issues with XM reception until today. It was on and off my entire afternoon commute from Reston, VA to Alexandria. Sound would cut out and display "No Signal" on the nav screen.

I am actually impressed that after two years of XM I have never once had even the slightest hiccup. So the fact that my signal was kinda patchy today...no problem!

There is an XM problem with their SATs currently. Ordinarilly, remember to keep A/V topics to the A/V forum (we have a thread going on for this there too) but since this effects so many TSX users, I'll keep it unlocked until the issue is resolved.

Today I had an 06 loaner from the dealer with XM, I turned on XM to try it out and saw "No Signal" on the display. Thought they just didn't keep up the subscription on loaners or something. Now I know.

Happened here in Detroit- it really pissed me off! It never came up with NO SIGNAL. It would just fade in and out. There are usually a couple of overpasses that the signal fades out on, today just freaked me out, my subscription ends soon-have to do the $77 script.

I just got this in my email :

You may be experiencing temporary degraded performance with your XM reception at the present time. XM is aware of the issue and working diligently to resolve it as soon as possible. We anticipate full signal strength will be restored by early Tuesday morning.

Good to know it is widespread. I would cuss up a storm when the signal would go dead, from just parking under a tree.

Here is an email i got today from XM Radio...
Just a copy past job

-------------------------------------------------------------
XM Service Update

As many of you know, XM customers have experienced service outages or significantly degraded service since Monday mid-morning, May 21.

We quickly identified the problem and are working hard to return to our normal levels of service. The problem occurred during the loading of software to a critical component of our satellite broadcast system, which resulted in a loss of signal from one of our satellites. We expect normal service to resume midday today (eastern daylight time).

XM apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused. For updates, please go to http://www.xmradio.com.

In the meantime, you can enjoy many of our music channels on XM Radio Online (http://xmro.xmradio.com) if you are close to a computer.

Again, we regret any inconvenience for not having your XM Radio service fully available.

Finally.

From XM :

XM Radio Resumes Normal Levels of Service

XM Satellite Radio has resumed normal levels of service for customers who experienced outages or significantly degraded service starting yesterday.

The problem occurred during the loading of software to a critical component of the satellite broadcast system, which resulted in a temporary loss of signal from one of the company’s satellites.

After you turn on your XM radio, please allow five to ten minutes to reacquire the XM signal.

XM apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused.

This is another example of how kick-ass this forumn is!

I've been here for about a month - and am extremely impressed by how rediculously quick people post new and reply to messages!

Looks like we all need a little distraction in the office!

Thanks!
