Wow....

Well guys tonight there was quite a situation. so i was hanging out with some friends we decided to have a nice meal together, since school is almost done and the holidays are coming. got together and picked up some food and on the way home we went to the local stop and shop to pick up some soda before heading home. Went to park and was on my way into the store. this guy starts yellling to me "hey your not handicapped." i responded with im not in a handicap spot. and procedded into the store while he was still yelling something at me. got 2 packs of soda and by the time i came out my car was keyyed all the way around. i was like wtf....then i realized the bastard did this. he was no where to be found so i just called the cops. went into the store and asked if they had cameras but they didnt. so police came and basically wrote it up. theres nothing they can really do since i didnt have his plates or know who he was. but man i was pretty amazed that someone would do this. i realized i was in a handicapp spot but the sign wasnt infront of my spot the was only an arrow pointing to that spot but i didnt think me being there for 5 mins would do any harm. the officer told me to give a number to my insurance company but i am still confused as to why this guy would be such an ass. i just sighed when i saw the damage.

wow, that freakin blows. is the metal creased at all? I hope your deductible isnt high.
I had my TSX backed into a party a month ago, I drove home in the morning, and later that day i noticed my passenger side front fender had a dent right on the wheel well crease and some swapped paint ($600 estimate). Your situation seems a bit worse though..

some people get real anal and personal about handicap parking spots.
you will hear them claim they "hate" people that park in those spots
that shouldn't.

so that guy hated you without knowing you.

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

If I were you, I would pay more attention from now on.
Watch where you park and don't park in handicap spots anymore.

a good way to avoid that is to do what I do, park far away and walk.

you will most likely need your entire car repainted. if it is keyed all around that is.

yea definetly understand where hes coming from but what what give him the right to be the handicap police and to punish people by keying their cars. thats just messed up. there were other handicap spots that were closer to the store that i could of parked but didnt because i wasnt trying to parking in a handicap spot on purpose. it was an accident and i was pratically already in the store. i was only gonna be there for like 2 mins so i guess it didnt seems like a big deal to me. boy was i wrong....but yea ill have to look out from now on. thanks

nothing gives him the right obviously.
but the facts remain as they are.
he is a wacko and he is part of group that is everywhere.
in probably every city there's a handful or more of these kind of
people so it's something you need to guard against.

It's wrong to mess with someone's car for any reason. I have no remorse for people like that. I have radical views on laws dealing with car vandalism/theft. These laws should be way harsher. Anyone else think that way?

Now, I would have been suspicious immediately when he started complaining. I wouldn't leave my car unattended with somebody who had the slightest problem with me. I would have left right there and went somewhere else for pop.

MsmTSX, good policy there with parking far and walking. I never park by other drivers. They're too careless. Good policy.

Anyway, do you recognize him? Maybe you can find him later and get the police. You know where he is likely to shop now at least. There's a decent chance he lives very close by. I would see if I can find him. His behavior was outlandish.

No offense.

Just, there could be army vets or Texas residents on this forum who you offended... maybe?

I totally agree.
obviously the cops don't give a shit.
obviously you are screwed.

so in my world, the way I operate, I would be at that store.
often.
same time as before.
every night.

every.
night.

that guy will come back, I agree with the above, he probably lives near by.

once you see him, best bet is to call the cops and have them get there immediately.

but again, in reality, the cops don't care one bit.

so I personally would inact revenge with my baseball bat.
but that's just me and I don't recommend or condone it.

life is what it is though, and I would teach that psycho a lesson in life.
and that lesson is to never f-ck with another man's car or property.
period.

period.

I would make sure he understands me.

boy this boils my blood just thinking about it.

but of course being civil is the right way to go for most,
so just take my comment with a grain of salt.

If the headlines "Man beat to death for vandalizing car" show up in the newspaper I wouldn't feel sorry for him one bit.

this happened in watertown on watertown street in the stop and shop parking lot. Also after school today i went to local body shop and asked for an estimate on how much it would cost and this guy claims it would be 3500-4000 to repair it the right way. so i went a called up my insurance company and filed a claim with them. sucks how a man armed with a key can do some much damage haha. o well theres 500 out of my pocket....sigh

and i not gonna go try to find this guy i mean its just not worth to me. hes obviously not the brighest bulb. i also dont have real proof it was him although there is no doubt in my mind but it was pretty dark, didnt even get a good look at him. all i know is he was a white male 40+ and bald. but i dont feel the need to go wreck his face because of his actions. im just gonna move on and be more careful from now on. Anyone know of a good bodyshop in the boston area? this is gonna be a pretty big job to repaint most panels so i want it to look good when shes been repaired.

like I said above, the entire car needs to be repainted.
if it's done right that is.
painting like 80% of the panels is not acceptable.
they will all have to be blended into the next panels anyway, so
if most every panel is effected, then every panel will need to be
painted, period. it's either some will just get blend painting while the
others get full painting, or all the panels will get full painting.
I would accepting nothing less than a full paint job of the exterior of the car.

and yes, that will run you about $3-4k for it to be done right.

on the bright side, if there was chipping on the hood, fenders and bumper
from our paint sucking to begin with, that could get taken care of at the
same time.

but really there is no bright side.
what color do you have?

EDIT:

okay, I see your sig.
2005 NBP

a 4 year old black car?
yes, a full repaint is necessary.
your paint now is slightly faded from when it was new anyway.

your car is keyed all the way around. $500 is out of your pocket for a repaint. your car is now devalued as if you had gotten into an accident. you are wasting time dealing with insurance, body shops, etc.

i don't see how you aren't more frustrated by this. i would definitely be on the hunt for this guy. no one is saying wreck his face...turn him into the authorities and make him pay every dime so he learns his lesson. destruction of property is no way to prove a point.

tell you the truth it really does bother man and i did have trouble sleeping last night. but getting angry really isnt gonna help whats done is done. sure i can play sherlock holmes and track him down(might even get him!) but i just dont think its worth all the trouble. if i was to find him and give him payback by screwing with his shit i would just be the same as him....also the police dont give a shit they have better things to do....i tried my best when it all happened but i just think its better to not get all hung up over this incident. but i totally agree with you it would be good if one day he pays his dues.

I would strongly suggest against changing the color of the car.
you do not need to repaint the engine bay and whatnot, none of that
is damaged. if you repainted the whole car you would need to do that.
and that really hikes the price of the job. time too.

I would certainly stay with NHB.
a fresh NHB paint job is beautiful, you'll fall in love with the color all over again.

I would contact your local Acura dealers.
ask them what body shops do their work and painting for them.
then go to one of those body shops.

Acura's pearl paints are tricky and hard to get right for many.
it's best to go to a shop that is very used to using them to get
yourself the best result in the end.

I dont think he had a right to key your car but you should have double checked when he said you parked in a handicapped spot...on top of that you eluded to the fact that you did it on purpose when you said " i didnt think me being there for 5 mins would do any harm. "
You can't park in handicapped spots man, people legitimately need those spots you and I were blessed with good legs and good health not to mention a little walking never hurt anyone

Again not justifying getting keyed, that was illegal and just flat wrong...but dont park in handicapped spots

It's definitely tempting.

"Ahh, the backfire." I guess the key job could be a mitigating factor in court.

I NEVER see a handicap space occupied. If I found the guy who did it, I'd turn him into a cripple...
