That remote looks like crap, and there are other complaints about the remotes. However, this post has nothing to do specifically with the TSX.

Ok, so I guess I was supposed to just read your mind that the other remote belongs to your car.

My remote is fine and it's 2.5 years old.

Mines about 3 years old and looks ok. Guess it depends on how you treat it. If anything I'd expect mine to be bad considering how much it bangs agains on my key chain.

Mine looks pretty much like the above photo. It's about 26+ months old. As with many things, I guess it just depends on how well you take care of it. BTW - the web link to H and A's protect-a-pocket looks like a good option for some so inclined.

Can't you put it inside a condom and make it waterproof as well?

If those prices are in USD and not CAD, then that place's pasta is pretty expensive.

I keep my FOB in my pants pocket and it still looks good. It does have a few scratches but not nearly as bad as the one pictured above.........

I think it really depends on what else you keep in your pockets and how many keys are on your keychain.

Myself I always have all kinds of random stuff in my pockets along with having about 8 keys on my keychain, so even after 3 months I can definitely tell the wear and tear.

I would suggest the same polish/wax routine for your FOB as for your car. Every three months I clay, polish, and use Collinite 845IW. Buffs up to a high shine and looks like new.

I've only had my remote for 4 months and it looks pretty beaten up. I only have 3 car keys, home key and mail box key on the chain and that is the only thing in my pocket (except my 1 GB jump drive when at work).

A $6 leather remote cover (which no-one will see) sounds a lot better than a $150 replacement. I'm planning on keeping the TSX for +10 years.

i've had mine for 20 months now, and it doesn't look like the rsx one in the first post. pretty much like the ones in the other pics. it's scratched up, but i can still see the "lock" "unlock" pics.

i'll probably use this one for a long time though. i don't want to get the other one scratched up. i usually don't carry anything else in my pocket. my cell phone goes in my other pocket. i stopped carrying my ipod nano in the same pocket as my key b/c my ipod got scratched up pretty badly.

i've had mine for 20 months and the remote buttons are perfectly fine.

Now you got me thinking of other key mods....

Has anyone tested to see if this key fob (rl) will work for a TSX?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA-Key-W-Remote-Item-B-84
i doubt it..

But what do you guys think of the possiblities of the new key fobs from the RDX, MDX, and TL will work?

After a year, the finish is worn off all of the edges, like the above photos (from Tony or Drigo, but maybe worse), but the diagrams on the face are still OK, so it's not a complete disaster. But I figured I might as well salvage what's left, so I ordered the h-and-a protector. It looks better now because you can't see how worn it is! And the color matches my car. (HEY, why not?)

The main thing I don't like about it is how it adds yet more bulk to my pocket. But now that I'm staring at it, I think I can remove one of the parts....

After 29 months and 52k miles, mine is beat all to hell. I started out with just the key, remote, and a metal Acura key chain, then replaced it with a leather Polo one.

Admire the difference between the key/remote I've used, and the one that's sat in my safe since the day I brought her home:
