Why the TSX won over the TL
I placed an order for a TL 2 months ago and changed my mind and got into a TSX instead on the same day the TL was being built.
I was originally was going to get the TSX but then changed my mind because I felt I wanted something with more power, thus the TL. As time went on I started thinking what about a car most important to me and as a self proclaimed “car guy” I found that the experience driving the car was the most important thing and that was what I was going to look for in a car. So a few weeks after putting the deposit down on the TL I went back to the dealer and drove the TL again. I was lucky that night and the dealer had both a TL and TSX 6MT demos (AT takes too much away from good driving, sorry AT owners). I drove the TL hard this time because I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing I thought there was too much pull from the front tires when I took corners. Then I drove the TSX. I found it was a lot like my current car (GSR coupe) and I had a blast in the corners. It felt it was more balanced and in the same turns it handled with ease and predictability. Where in the TL I found I was losing confidence because I didn’t know what the car was going to do.
I chose the TSX over the 330i and TL because the TSX was only marginally slower then my GSR but more then made up for it with the amenities and didn’t go with the 330i because the TSX offered much better value. To help put me over the edge the car is very decorated by industry experts and publications. I can’t wait till it comes in!
To all of you out there thinking of purchasing the vehicle count my vote!

Maybe because i m new at driving stick, but i found the clutch on the TL impossible to engage smoothly. The TSX was so easy to drive and I like the look of the front better. Only thing is that if it had even 20 more hp, i dont think the TL would steal so many away from it as it does.
I noticed something though,
when comparing the street start times (5-60 miles/hour) the TSX is only 0.1 seconds slower than the RSX TYPE S. Not bad, considering I will never go through the means that Car and Driver does to get those coveted 0-60 times (dropping the clutch=bad).
My guess is one mod will put them on par for street starts. Correct me if I am wrong.

Driving them both back to back you can tell that the TSX is more fun to drive. The TSX is much more balanced and handles better then the TL.
I looked up the numbers after my test drive the TL pulls 0.81 g in the slalom and the TSX can pull 0.85 (300 ft dia skid). More balance, A LOT less torque steer (almost feels like the wheels are going to rip off the rest of the TL) and having a few hundred bucks extra a month never hurt anyone =)
Do you think the TL didn’t make car and drivers top 10 because of price. I think not.

heck..325i same price as TSX
in your post you said you liked the drive/feel of the car more..TSX wins over the TL and you like the cheaper payments as well...a 330 or 325 would drive better than a TSX but more $$...so it was due to $$ in the end

to the 330i and the TSX. But you're right about 330i vs the TSX. The 330ci (drove the coupe on my test drive) was awesome to drive but dollar for dollar you get a lot more car for your money with the TSX. So yes price next to what you get the TSX beats the 330.

IMO i wouldnt buy a 3 series bmw period. Im happy with my cls and am glad i didnt get a bmw. AS for the tsx, its a great bang for the buck. the g20 is slow as hell, i was gonna buy one of those before my o1 maxima.

everybody has their own priorities..and in your case you chose a little less performance for features..which a lot of people have done.. not everybody wants/needs the extra driving enjoyment/ performance.

I disagree, I'm 23 and an owner if a brand new TL... I love the TSX and I love the TL, both are great cars, but the TLs extra toys and a lil more power drew me away from the TSX. Yeah the car has torque steer, but that is lessened by lowering the car, what many do anyways. Either way, you made a good choice man, the TSX is a fine automobile
