The TSX is the best car I own as far as gas mileage goes... so I'll be taking it:

to Atlanta to see Radiohead
to Manchester, TN for bonnaroo
to Charlotte, NC to see Dave Matthews, then
to Atlanta to see Dave Matthews
to Atlanta to see Jack Johnson (for the wife)

man... going to Atlanta a bunch...

to New England to drive around for a week to visit friends/family.

All coming from east TN.

So I'll be driving it a bunch. It has 2300 miles on it now... more to come for sure.
stupid gas prices!

As long as you don't bring any weapon or fruits/meats you should be okay.

I always drive to the hamptons/montauk in the summer time which is about a three hour drive from my side of jersey to chill at the beautiful beaches! Definately worth the drive and I do it about to or three times a month.

My TSX really doesn't see many roadtrips, which is fine with me. Keeps the miles down and less rockchips, lol. Last real trip was in June 2007 down to Philly for my sister's graduation.

I'm taking mine from Orlando to Columbia, SC in about 2 weeks for a long weekend. Should take about 6 hours. I just made that drive back in February in my 2001 Mazda Protege. It wasn't bad in that, so it should be great in the TSX! Especially with my new tint!

lol, we don't do that anymore since the border control are so strict! we usually spend a good 2-3 days in toronto buying and eating all of the exotic fruits until we're tired of it. oh yeah, they also have the best vietnamese sandwiches there!

Just finished this road trip when I moved last month:

Seattle Wa to Sacramento California to Las Vegas NV, to Austin Tx. Had 2200 miles on my car when started, have 5500 miles now (lol). Took 4 days and I just hated putting all those miles on the car, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

It was fun nonetheless, and you gotta love cruising for hours at 98mph in the middle of new mexico when you can see clearly the next 5 miles (no cops) and have a rabbit (cop bait) in front of you LOL!

Got pulled over for 88 in an 80 (wtf, seriously?!?!) an hour inside texas. Got off with a warning though, I'm glad that cop didn't see me in new mexico going 98 in a 70 lol.

Forgot to mention, the funniest thing I heard on the trip - the state trooper that pulled me over said to me "Here in texas, 80 means 80. You'll get there just as fast going 80 as you will going 88". Meanwhile I'm thinking "what kind of alternate universe are YOU living in" lol.

Edmonton to Calgary lots of times (260 kms one way)
Edmonton to Saskatoon lots of times (550 kms one way)
And this summer Edmonton to Winnipeg (1300 kms one way)
I love it on the highway, gas mileage is great, and i am always comfortable.Except the lower back support could be a little better.

I agree with you there, the seats leave a little to be desired. I adjust the lumbar all over the place, it never feels right. My brother's 07 TL is the same way, I got a sore back after driving it for ~3 hours. I assume acura's just don't have very well engineered seats.

Planning my break-in trip to Yellowstone from Dallas here in a few months.. chasing minivans, suvs and camries around in stop and go with a 6MT, averaging 30 mph just doesn't do this car justice!

I'm debating whether to change the original oil before I head out - I've got 2200 miles on her so far and it's showing 60% oil life, but I bet I'll be closer to 4000 before I leave. Opinions?

i think he is saying that if you go 88, youll get pulled over which will delay your trip and in the end you will arrive at the same time. that is what i think

i would do it, i would not leave the break in oil in there for that long since it probably has lots of tiny metal shaving in there. i changed mine at 3.8k.

I know what he's thinking, but I don't agree with it. He got lucky, pulling me over, the other staters weren't so lucky . I drove at 90 across the entire state and got pulled over once for 15 mins, i'd still take those odds, and I consider that unlucky. I don't even think he really had a reading on me cuz i was amongst a few cars and passing them and they guys I was passing were almost going 88 anyways I digress.....

I went 1/2 the country for +10-15 mph over on average, I think i made up about 6~7 hours by doing that, so yeah it's signifcant. 1 warning in 4 days costing 10-15 minutes, I'll take that!

Simple, replace the oil when the car tells you to. Mine was 5800 miles. It depends on how much freeway driving you do (mine was significant).

I'm not pulling over on the side of the road on a ~2k mi road trip to change oil in the middle of my trip if it so happens to tell me I'm due when I'm about half way there. Sure I'm still picky, but that might be taking it a bit too far.

We are now on a road-trip-drove from NC to CA and we are driving back to NC-in colorado today. We changed the oil just before we left (oil life was 5%). The oil life is again at 5% so we will probably will stop to get it changed before we get to NC (that is if we find a acura or honda dealer.) Last year we drove from NC to Yellowstone-changing the oil before we left. We ended up either not finding a place or when we did it was closed-afterhours or sunday. when we arrived home we had the oil changed. It was 1,962 miles past due. My 06 6MT, bought new, 11/17/06, has almost 50,000 miles.

I have taken my almost 2 month old TSX from Miami to Tampa and back 2x already. Each trip is almost 300 miles one way. I'll be driving to Key West and back 2x in the next 4 weeks so another almost 200 miles one way. By the time my car is 3 months old, I'll probably have 5000 miles on her and then no long trips for a long while. I'm currently at 3800 miles.

BTW, if you want to get optimal gas mileage on your trips, average no higher than around 70 mph. The TSX just loves to cruise in that range. I unfortunately like to average about 85 mph so I get about 31 mpg on the hwy but when in that 60-72 mph range, you'll easily see your mpg at 33-35! I was forced to stay at 65-70 on a recent portion of a trip and my MID kept creeping up to 34.5! I was amazed bc I'd never seen it over 33 and that was only after just getting gas. As soon as I was able to go over 75 mph, it started to go down again.

Quick Reply: Whos taking their TSX on a roadtrip this summer?
