What voids the warranty?
What voids the warranty?
I'm coming up to the 10k mark, and change my own oil. I can have a local person do my tire rotations, so I don't have to travel an hour to the dealer (est. 3 hours by the time I get back home - hell, I could do it myself one tire at a time with jackstands at that rate
).
If I document that I have checked all the std. fluid levels, is that enough?
But, what if something else is wrong with the car, can Acura claim it is my fault for not having a dealer or any (paid) mechanic look at the car?
I'm probably safe at 10k, but how far can one push this principle; what constitutes "abuse"?

This thread contains a pretty comprehensive discussion on what types of mods void the warranty:

Changing your own oil and other fluids should not void the warranty.

Can they get me for not checking something which, if caught in time, would have been easily corrected, but now is $$?
Hard to say, but in the case of oil changes, keep your recipts for the oil and filter purchases. To avoid this issue, I get my local mechanic to do it (Mobil 1 changes, I provide the supplies) and he provides me with a dated receipt. I don't want to screw around on this issue.
You need to perform the maintenance and inspections specified in the manual. So long as you do those, the warranty is good.
There's no easy way to prove that you inspected something, but it's also virtually impossible to prove that you didn't.

I'll bet you could get away with murder... the burden of proof is on Acura.
