I know this is not as nice a deal as many of you are getting in California and elsewhere, but this is the best deal I could find (exluding one offer in the Dallas area for $100 less - but 4 hours away!). Nevertheless, I probably could have negotiated the price a little lower, but they were willing to give me what I owed on my trade in, which was $1400 more than Gillman Acura would give me. Plus Gillman would not go any lower than $500 over invoice. I used the quote pages at Edmunds and one other place to get emailed responses. But the best offers were made by phone.
I tried several months ago to get Sterling down below $29.5 and they wouldn't budge. Last week I noticed a large inventory on thier lot, before they only had a few cars unsold. Seems the inventory has caught up with demand in Houston.. Finally. You might have bought the same CG/Navi I saw in the demo lot about 2 weeks ago. Did that price include destination? Who did you work that deal with? PM me if you need to... thanks.

Ummm, I don't mean to be a skeptic, but $27,000 for a new '06 w/Nav. is a bit unbelieveable.

I think it may be difficult to determine if someone is really getting a good price if a trade-in is involved. Dealership plays around with the figures between the trade-in and sale price of the new car. In my case, I may think I'm getting a good price on a car but I may not be getting too good of a deal on my trade-in so it's kind of hard to definitively say if the deal was excellent or not.

He's dead serious - The catch is, car has to be on hand. There are a couple of dealerships in the LA area that are doing the same thing. The lowest I've seen was 27,270. So this doesn't seem like a stretch. And this was just last month when I was looking.

Of course they didn't have my specific color/transmission combo, so I paid a premium, but still walked away happy @ $28,120

LilJapnBoy,

Check out Park Acura and ask for Greg Hartman. He helped me get my 06' RBP w/ Parch 5AT no nav. Now, I got a very good price from them and it appears it was a price mistake but I held them to it. With that said, Mr. Hartman was very helpful and even though I drove 2 hours from Columbus, OH (The 2 Acura dealers here wouldn't even really deal any) to Akron, it was worth it. The price I got from them was 25360 plus 100 doc fee and TTL. Got me out of the dealership quick and once they knew I wasn't letting go of the pricing error, they took care of everything. If you live in NE Ohio, use Park Acura, Akron.

First time poster and I hope I could help some people out. By the way, I love this car more than my wife's 01' Lexus ES300, even though that might have been the most perfect care I ever owned. I hope this Acura can live up to that.

No trade-in on deal, sold the Lexus to the first person who looked at it, I hope I didn't make a mistake?!?!?!

Wow, that's incredible. In the northeast, don't plan on getting any less than $28,200 - $28,500 for an '06 w/ Nav.

I'm jealous.

Invoice for a non navi TSX is $25,436.00. The holdback is usually 2 or 3 % or about $500 to $750. So...although we're not suppose to bring up or mention the holdback to the dealer because they feel it's their baby....You better keep it in mind when making your first offer.

I just ordered a 2006 Nighthawk 6-sp navi with A-spec suspension (no body kit) for my wife from a Denver, CO dealer.

$30,236 - includes window tint, clear bra paint protection, wheel locks, splash guards, A-spec suspension, destination & handling but not sales tax.

Also got KBB trade-in value for our old Civic.

Hated every minute of the negotiations. Felt nauseated the whole time. I guess I am not cut out for a high pressure sales career! Props to you fellows that actually enjoy the process. I will hire one of you next time to do the deed for me.

hey guys im new to this forum and i've been searchin around and reading post for a while.

it seems like everyone is gettin a TSX for under 30k, with and without navi.

and it seems like everyone is gettin tehre TSX under or around MSRP.
my question is.. why is taht?

and is there an AVERAGE price i should be aware of for NAVI and NON-NAVI when i go to the dealer. (just in case i dont get ripped off)

and of course im talkin about the 2006. but if there were a 2005 on the lot, should i go for it? (if it were to be cheaper)

May I suggest http://www.edmunds.com and http://www.carbuyingtips.com/

Use the first one to find the invoice price and etc, the second one to learn how to deal and avoid fees.

skippy, you have a bunch of reading to do:
http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying...les/index.html
seriously read up.

in my words
INVOICE is the base wholesale price for the car
MSRP is the desired price that the dealer wants to get a high profit margin

OTD (out the door) is the total cost you end up paying/financing which is made up of:
INVOICE + DESTINATION + DOCUMENTATION PROCESSING + DMV TITLE AND LICENSE + TAX (if applicable in your state)

good luck

First Contacting Dealers

What is the strategy most of you used when contacting dealers (via email or otherwise) when negotiating for your TSX?

Did you send emails out to several dealers saying "give me your best price"?

Or do you send out an offer first to the dealers and ask them to match it?

Thanks!

This price was from First Acura for those in the area. Just looking for reasurance to help me enjoy the new purchase. Should have it on Friday as there are only 2 RBP ebony casrs in the North East.

I just posted in another post. I'm a newbie. I skimmed through this post and I'm sorry if I'm asking all the same questions.

I'm looking at the 06 TSX Royal Blue AT w/o nav in Colorado. I'm scared to death and procrastinating because of dealing with the price negotiation at dealerships. What price can I stick to? I'm not going to get the extended warranty, the body kit, the paint extras, whatever extras they try to get me to pay for.

Is this the price I stick to before taxes? $26K $27K $28K $29K

Thumbs up

Hello,
I must say my deal is getting better and better. The dealership I am dealing with is trying to locate one for me, they originally thought they were going to be able to get one in new england but found there were none available in NE. They have since expanded their search to NY and should have it on Monday or Tuesday. The price stands.
PS I am in MA my price before anything was 28100 RB/ebony W/Nav that included dest and nothing else.

I would stick strong to 26k if I were you be flexible a couple of hundred. let them know you would like to pay 25900 they will understand that meant 26 they will offer you 26100 which would be good in my eyes.

Good luck

And do not take my word for the final word as I am still reluctant myself.

Also depending on the inventory at the dealership the more units they have the better for you.

Also the end of the month is upon us

Apologies in advance for the length of this post.
I just bought an 06 AT without nav at Pikes Peak Acura (Colo Spgs). $26911 before taxes. Invoice is $25,463 and MSRP is $27890; see http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/acur...06/prices.html Both of those prices go up by about $600 for the destination charge. It's unavoidable, so the dealer's cost is around $26,000 except there's a 3% holdback ($836) that the dealer also gets paid that they don't talk about. See http://www.edmunds.com/advice/incentives/holdback/ So their real cost is $25150 or so. PPA tries to get you to pay several extra charges. I told them those were their decisions, and that I thought I could avoid such fees at other dealers (though I think all their cars have clear bras, and that's worth a few $hundred) I figured out what I was willing to pay ($26911)and offered it to them. They came back with a counter $700 higher. I told them that I might pay that after checking with other dealers, and they then accepted my price. I think they will do whatever they can to sell you a car that day - they know if you leave they may never see you again. In retrospect, I'm guessing I could have gotten them to go down another $300 - $400. Be aware of one other thing: Before they'll talk serious pricing, they'll get you to commit (in writing) that if they can give you an agreeable price, you'll buy the car. No problem if you're certain about the car in question, but if you want to look around any more, it's probably not a good idea. I don't think it's really binding, but it does kinda force you to decide right then if this is the car for you.

Whoops. One more thing, relevant wherever you buy: After you've agreed to the price, read the pricing statement(s) they produce closely. Dealer tried to add a $300 charge for etched (serial number) glass. It was stuck down the list of taxes and fees. I told them they had to remove it - We'd already agreed on a price. I was kinda surprised to see it there, and it would have been easy to miss, what with all the papers they have you reading and signing.

Start by offering below invoice and don't accept a price anything more than a couple hundred over invoice.

Very good price on a 06 TSX

I got a Carbon Grey Pearl with Ebony Interior, 6speed and navigation included for $28,470 plus tax and license out the door. It was a good price.

Well folks!! pulled the trigger today signed the paperwork and ordered a CGP 2006 TSX 5spd-AT with Navi. The price I'm getting is $28,760 plus TTL......with dealer installed/added protection package (he was going to charge me on this but I was able to get it included with no charge).....I added a wing spoiler and clear bra so it came down to 32,500 OTD seems a bit high.....but that is the best I could do. I played the dealership game (we only had two Acura dealers here in Salt Lake City) and the sales rep wouldn't come down anymore on the price. Other than that the decision on which one to get TL or TSX is finally over!! (read my write-up as to why the TSX won over for me). I expect to get my TSX by mid April. Thanks folks for all the info you shared.

Forgot to mention this also.....the dealership included free lifetime oil changes and offered financing (he said from American Honda) of 3.9% for 48 mos. or 4.9% for 60 mos.

half down, half financed with 7.2%... play hard ball.. i ended up getting mine for invoice.

i tired like hell to get 6.9 financing... but they didn't want to hear it.. and with a 630 fico.. HMC still was looking the other way. oh well.

The price differences for TSX's on this site are incredible. On saturday I had to walk away from buying a 6 sp. non navi TSX that Los Gatos Acura had ordered for me without any down or committment.I did wait 2 months or more for the car and they did hold it for me for several days so I could make the drive up there but the prices he gave me were through the roof......at least I thought so. What do you guys think???? His first offer or the best he could do was $27,251..thats alot over invoice..or $29,523 out the door. I told him that guys all over this site were getting cars with navi for that price...he doubted it. They also tried to lowball me on my RSX -S trade -in. I had to walk out even as the detail guy was doing my car. I still cannot believe what went down.

I still cannot believe what went down.
go to edmunds.com..

request SEVERAL internet quotes from anyone in the 60 mile range of your house.. take the best quote to your local dealership, and tell them... if they want to sell a car.. they will match the printed email in yoru hand.. or you will drive an hour away and pay less.

thats basicly what i did.. and got them to bend over backwards for me.

INTERNET QUOTES.. its alot easier than trying to low ball, and manuver a salesman into a lower price.
