Above readings are from MID; when I filled up, the 35.8 became 33.8 mpg after doing the math.

I just did 413.8 miles with 13.971 gallons... 29.6mpg with the MID reporting 31.4... that's pretty far off. This is the worst mileage I've gotten in the last three tanks, at this rate I should have joined the 500-mile club by now.
Filled up and had a leisurely cruise to work on the highway... here's a preview for this tank:

I was very happy today... got almost 34mpg driving into chicago from the north suburbs... taking into consideration bottlenecks a few miles surrounding toll plazas and driving more than 1/4 of my trip in city driving.
I luv my tsx.
basically, I try to keep the instant mpg bar reading full... its like playing a game.

'07 5AT with 10k miles. I drive a little more aggressively than average.
In the winter, which was extremely nasty in the Midwest this year, I got 21-24 mpg at around 70% highway driving.
This summer, I've been consistently around 27 mpg for the same 70% highway mix. On a recent road trip, I was pleasantly surprised with one tank of just over 35mpg at a constant 62mph. On a handful of 90% highway tanks, I've gotten between 29 and 32mpg.
I get the feeling that about 58mph is the sweet spot on the 5AT, and using the cruise control really helps optimize the acceleration/deceleration. On my old '99 Camry, the engine would rev unreasonably going uphill with the cruise on ... the TSX's cruise handles it beautifully.
I always do my mpg calcs with actual math at the pump. My MID consistently overestimates about 8%.
For the record, I also agree that Shell's V-Power is among the best fuel out there. And the two tanks I've had without the 10% Ethanol addition have performed about 5% (~1.5mpg) better. It's pretty hard to find Ethanol free gas in my area.

The MID showed 39.3 MPG at one stretch during a mostly highway run of about 80 miles. If pure highway, I'm sure I can get it to show over 40 MPG.
Now I'm at half a tank and it's down to about 37 MPG, so it's really about 35 MPG after adjustment.
I'll be happy with that if it stays this way the rest of the tank.

On a recent trip in my 2006 6MT from Calgary to the Okanagan I went 614 km on 41.1 litres of 91 octane V-Power. The trip was about 95% highway with three short trips thrown in. Thats 6.7L/100 km, (6.4L/100 km on the MID), or 35.1 mi/gal US or 42.2 mi/gal IMP. The outstanding engineering of the K series engine makes it very easy to hypermile these cars, with the 6MT especially.
I drove from 5 to 15 km/hour above the speed limit crossing 3 mountain ranges with no WOT but lots of passing. It was my first road trip in three months and it was obvious that the average speed of traffic is down, at least in my part of Canada. It was rather restfull actually. The price of fuel has, in a matter of weeks, acheived what decades of traffic enforcement failed to do: the lowering of speeds on our highways.

Calgary to the Okanagan is quite downhill Not entirely but Calgary is like 3000 feet higher than..say..Kelowna.
I got 610kms on 79.5 Litres in my V8 Jeep GC in Alberta last December. I usually avg 490kms for 79.5L here in BC. Do you find that you get better mpg on a hwy trip on the flats, or in mountain passes? With your TSX that is.

Just filled up today, 24 mpg!! I think this is my worst tank yet.
My oil is at 10%, I'm still on the original oil from the factory, I'm thinking that may be why...

The MID tends to be off on my also. It usually is off by about .6 to 1mpg off. I would assume it will get worse as the average mpg gets higher. I get
Straight city- 20 to 21mpg
City/Highway- 24 to 25mpg
Highway- 27+mpg

Just for farts 'n giggles, I did a spreadsheet where I calculated how many more miles you'd theoretically get out of increasingly better mileage, how many gallons you'd save, and then ... how much money that would save you if gas was $4.23 (current Shell 93 price down the street from me). From 25 MPG to 32.5 MPG ... the savings add up. Doesn't make me feel so silly being a slowpoke when I'm on the highway and making impatient road ragers have to jet around me.
If anyone wants to double-check my formulas, here they are [image].

I drove back to San Jose yesterday, it was over a 100* on the way up with a really strong headwind so I was only getting 28-29mpg driving at 65mph (I usually get 34mpg). I found a big tour bus hauling down the freeway in my direction so I decided to draft it for about 30 miles, and despite going 70 on a slightly hilly road I got an average of 44mpg while behind it

I used some 93 oct from a Naval Base... only $4.15 a gallon!!!

Both of our 08 TSX, each with maybe 3k miles, average 30+ mpg with 80/20 city hwy. I make a weekly drive from Yorkville to Arl Hts and average 34 according to the MID.
We typically buy 91 or 93 octane from Murphy Oil.
We also do a LOT of coasting....we've never had cars that can coast as far as a TSX. If I'm going 40 at the top of the hill 1/2 mile from the house I can coast right into the garage!

Yes, Yorkville is 12 mi. West of Plainfield and Arl Hts is approx 65 mi one way, so 130 mi RT and $25 in gas per week. Worth it though (usually), band rehersal.

Just for farts 'n giggles this morning, I drove in at about 60-61 MPH and reset my Trip B odometer ... the MID reported 20 miles later (100% highway miles, mind you) that I was getting 38.5 MPG , better than I usually do at 65-70 MPH. Now ... will I do this regularly? Dunno, I had a lot of people coming up close and then passing, incl. the flocktard who was weaving in and out of traffic at high speed while using an electric razor. 
I wouldn't mind getting 85 miles (2 commute days) more out of my tank, but I also don't wanna get rear ended by the road warriors I share the interstate with twice a day.

Pretty impressive what slowing down does, isn't it? This morning on the way in I did ~60 and there were a lot of people with me. This whole gas thing is starting to hurt a lot of people.

I've been contemplating getting an '06 TSX with manual transmission but am kind of suprised that they don't get much better fuel economy than my '03 CL-S. My CLS gets 22-24 mpg city with moderate driving and 33 mpg highway at 75 mph with the A/C on. Plus the V-6 has so much more power when one wants to use it.

I don't recall if we posted this before ... the FuelEconomy.gov page on fuel economizing tips has a great video by MotorWeek in which they tested identical cars on identical roads with different driving techniques. Pretty eye-opening results, too.

Considering how far gas prices have skyrocketed in the past 2-3 months (I'm aghast at posts in April that I've reread trying to find that URL again tonight), 40% savings on highway mileage is no small potatoes.
BTW, with 9 TSXs reporting (only 2-3 submitting recent data; c'mon guys, let's get some more uploading purchase data), it seems drivers average 20 MPG city, 28 MPG highway, with a combined mileage of only 23 MPG. My average over 12 fill-ups (since April 13) has been 28 MPG overall, by practicing most of what MotorWeek suggested.

I have been averaging about 27 mpg. If I do all highway, even with heavy traffic and near stand still points, I get over 30. What kills me is city driving. That always kills my gas mileage.

I was driving from San Jose back home to LA last Sunday (June 29th). Decided to take 101 because it was such a nice day. Had a good tailwind for awhile and got 36 mpg averaging 65-70 mph. I love this car!!!
I wanted to drive through Big Sur, too bad its on fire
