You know "V-Tech" kicks in when you hear a sound.....
.....kinda sounds like a dial tone.
"VTEC" however is a pitch change @ 6000k RPM.

I am still waiting to pass the second stage of breaking-in, with only 200 miles on my car. Though I have already went to 4500 RPM by accident, shifting into 4th instead of 6th gear from 5th.

The second phase of VTEC kicks in at 6,000 RPM's (a little higher than I would have expected).

That's the funniest explanation of VTEC I've ever heard.

Yes, spooky indeed. Thanks for the reply.

I am gonna put in extra-virgin olive oil next.
You know VTech has kicked in when you start blocking punts like crazy, your defense scores more than your offense, and your fans do the Hokie Pokie before the 4th quarter.
You know VTEC has kicked in when your puny 4-banger starts to give you a tingly feeling like God himself is propelling your vehicle toward redline.

Yeah, I really can't feel it either. I've had it at redline plenty of times, but it only seems like the last few hundred rpm's are the VTEC. I wish it was from about 5K on up. Then I'd be able to enjoy it more. I know you can reprogram it, but I hate to spend the $$ - it's about $300.
I guess I'm more used to my old VW Jetta 1.8T, you could really feel the turbo kick in. That was fun - and had a great whistle sound to it.

Note that you feel it more in 2nd and 3rd gear. In 1st you can't feel it because there is already heaps of torque from the gearing.
In the TSX it feels like when your car is out of breath at 6000rpm, someone comes up behind it and shoves a needle up its butt.
