they are configured different... The ratios etc are set for performance in civics where as CL motors are sport luxury... plus the weight rtio from a civic to a cl is enough that the 2.0 would still be faster in the civic!

Yeah exactly dual overhead cams versus single overhead cam. If you want a really good summary of this check out.

Howstuffworks.com and check out how engines work this should be enough to let you know.

that and the compression on the B18c5(integra type r motor) is through the roof. ours comes in at 8.8:1 and all those engines are in the 9.5:1 range i am preety sure.

maybe I missed something, but since when are Civics and Integras 2.0's?? and a DOHC civic?? stock?? I dont think so! The ZC motor is a 1.8 DOHC non-VTEC... and civics are 1.7's, 1.6's or 1.5's SOHC's... GSR and type R teg's are still only a 1.8. I'm really confused here!!

I have never seen a stock Civic with more power than a 2.2/2.3 engine. The ZC still has less power...

Dude I don't mean to sound like Im hatein on you but have you ever heard of the B16b it was a 185 hp monster found in the j-spec Civic Type R. By saying monster I mean 185 Hp is pretty awesome for a 1.6 liter. In fact the US civics with the B16A3, B16 G2, and B16 G3 engines all put out 160-170 horsepower and were DOHC VTECs. And as for the type R integra it was able to finesse 200hp out of a 1.8 liter engine. When you stack the two type R engines up the civic engine actually makes more power per liter then the integra, even though it is only buy a couple horspepower. I think it was like 111 for the Integra Type R and 114 for the Civic Type R thats up there with the S2000 who makes 120 Hp per liter in its F20 powerplant. My 2.3 SOHC only produces 65 hp per liter

You are right though there arent any integras or civics that Im aware of that came with a 2 liter engine stock only the crv and prelude came with a B20 stock. Also Honda hasnt used the ZC engine since the 92-93 when you could find them in In tegras, CRXs, and Civics. The shitty civics were powered buy the D series engines and these are the ones you always end up whippin on you know the ones with styling by APC

ok, I figured we were talking about AMERICAN cars here... but there still arent any Civics or Integra's with 2.0 engines in them. The CRV had a 2.0 engine in it, and thats it, besides the all mighty S2k. The ZC was used in the base model and GS integra since 94. The prelude used a h22a, f22 or h23. The 99-00 Civic SI did have a b16, I forgot about that one. The new Civics use a 1.7 liter, and the new SI has the k20, a 2.0 i-VTEC. I've never seen a ZC in a civic or crx stock... they always used the d engines.

I think honda should have done away with the f22 and used the h22 instead in the accord and cl's... but oh well.

Yeah ive only been beaten once buy a civic once, and it had of course the b16 and had been completly stripped. There are no 2.0s in old integras or civics unless swapped. The new Type S RSX Integra and the Type R Civic both have 200 HP 2.0 Liter K20c iVtec Engines. The standard Integra RSXs and Civic SIs have a 160 HP 2.0 Liter K20A iVtec engines.

Your right sumkidcl only japanese and european Civics and CR-Xs had ZC engines back in the years between 86-93. However, the ZC engine definently has not been used since 93 in any Honda or Acura production vehicle here or abroad becaue VTEC engines replaced the ZC. And finally yes the prelude once upon a time came with a B20A3 and B20A5 which were both US cars. The Accord also came with a 2.0 liter engine being the F20 engine in japan and an A20 engine in the US back in the early ninetys

For further reference heres a great little site to let you know which car had what and when.

because what u are having is sohc vtec engine and so do my cls has..sohc vtec engines are initially designed by honda for fuel efficiency purpose only..not designed as high performance engines..and what civic and integra and s2000 and nsx have are DOHC VTEC engines..those are designed as high performance engines.... and bigger or smaller displacement do not mean having much or less hp.... civic's B16A series and integras' B18C VTEC and accord/prelude H22A VTEC and nsxs' C32B VTEC engines are all DOHC VTEC and they are world's famous engines..non turbo nor supercharger...and big output hp . imagine honda has all those engine technology about almost 10 years ago.... and honda invents the VTEC engine...
