TSX Engine Swapped to a Civic?

http://www.modifiedcartrader.com/sea...Honda_Civic_SI

I haven't seen this before and was wondering if anyone else knew about it. It might be old news so mods can close if so but i just figured i would throw it up. This is the second one i saw. The first one was turbo'ed!!!!!!

That is what i was thinking....and they turbo them and we can't even turbo them while they are on our car!

This will def increase theft on our vehicles i would think.....

I know a couple local to me. they are eg civic's and ek civics ranging from coupes to hatches and 1 sedan. They're using a small mix of rsx parts and kpro and they are friggen' surprisingly quick little bastards.
The tsx motor is just one of the severel diff. version of k series motors. Basically you can swap our motors into any car you can swap a k series into. You'll just have to do some swapping of parts to make it work and then use a good engine mngmt. system like kpro from hondata. The swaps seem to be hovering around 7-10grand for everything but i've seen them done for way less.

that's stupid, for an extra 7-10 grand and in addition the retail value of the Civic you can get a whole new car that could even be faster than modding a Civic.

whats so stupid about it? you can buy a ep3 for like 15-20 maybe less spend 5-7 i seen some swaps go for less... that car weighs like 2800 pounds im guessing that car will run circles around a supercharged TSX!

it might be even a G35 killer so lets say u spend 22,000 average i say thats a pretty good deal

Honestly, the civics i've seen and ridden in, modded of course are in 'vette territory. Screw ANY modded tsx that's out now. Seriously, think about it for a sec. Ep3's, to me suck. look like little van's but look at the older civics, EG's, EK's. Get one for 1500-2000, drop 7 grand and for less then 10 grand you have something that you can pretty much wipe the floor with a lot of 30g cars, have bad ass gas mileage plus something that people don't think twice about when they look at it and it's SUPER EASY and CHEAP to work on/maintain. Same thing as when the bseries swaps hit. crx's and b16's, b18's etc.. BIgger motor into a little car.
I've ridden in my friends built k24 eg and we've busted zo6's like they're parked. granted he's boosted but still, civic vs vette...civic wins. end of story, no excuses no matter how you look at it a 10-12 thousand dollar car just destroyed a 50+ thousand dollar car period.
Would you be more pissed if your driving a new vette and get stomped by a civic or getting stompped by a porsche? Personally i'd be like wtf with the civic. The porsche, ehh, so what, it's atleast somewhat in the same league.
Honestly the biggest thing i see is the part that's in blue text. it makes perfect sense in all honesty.

So many alternatives when swapping honda/acura motors. The main swap is the Frank which is a K24 Block and K20 Head.. with the right internals, some are pushing over 280WHP N/A and then putting all that into a EK/EG hatch = very fast car!

I have my eg in the garage just waiting for the price to come down. 7-10k is a little steep right now.

Not a serious reason to be concerned. Alot of the times you'll see something saying TSX motor.. more than most of the time its just a regular K24, its just that when people think of the K24 they automatically say TSX. The K24 is found in the Honda Element/Accord and CR-V. The main difference between them is Compression/Internals. Alot of the swap guys are using the K24 from the Element since its cheaper than our TSX motor. I've seen alot of Element motors on different sites going for about $400 compared to ours going for about $3,000 roughly. You dont see too many real TSX motors being swapped so i dont think we are in the red for thieves!

Yea i wasn't saying i was pissed that they are swapping them i am just upset that they can use our engines AND turbo them whereas we can't even turbo them while they are in our cars. I read about the k24 block iwht k20 head being very NA to a good amount of power even before boost!

Heck, if i had money i would love to do up a civic and beat a vette. I would be laughing as i drove away saying i spent half of what you did......

Don't get me wrong, i still LOVE vettes, expecially the new ones but having something that fast and spending almost a 1/3 of the $$, not stupid to me....

k frankenstein

and yeah to the op's. k swaps are becoming more and more popular. the k's are the new b's and they have alot more potential. only factor is the price. a full kswap set up will run you 8K and up. i just picked up an eg shell for 800 and an rsx tranny for 800 also. im gonna be smoking evos soon with an na set up.

you thinkthats crazy you should see the 2jz 240sx swap my friend has on his car. a nissan that thinks hes a supra. rediculous

Way back in 03/04 there was a civic running a k24.

you just have to remember that when swapped they can use a k100 engine management which alleviates all the issues people have making aftermarket stuff for the tsx. Anything from turbos to full engine builds are possible.

and don't worry about you're engine being stolen... it is far more profitable to do a frankenstein set up....

Yea, i guess if you put our engine in a civic you don't need the it run the same controls as we do in our cars, VSA etc. Looks like a fun project for some day.....

Civics are typically classed as those mid 20-low 30 spanish guys who put plastic $10 spinners from Walmart and slap on a big ass fart can. It's one of the reasons why I dislike civics overall. But the new SI caught my attention... still. TSX ftw.

Of course you can turbo them. Just use a kpro. But no, you want to keep your A/C, VSA, cruise control. If you don't need these features like the Civic guys, you can do the same as them.

2jz swaps are nice. Check out the ones they have put into the s2k..Now that's how fast it should have been. unfortunatey i don't see the car handling to well anymore with the extra weight up front so it kind of defeats the s2k's purpose but still..damn...

Hybrid imports in fredericksburg (currently hybrid garage now in stafford,va) were the first to kswap a eg hatch on the east coast. That was a fun swap especially when people were still trying to figure it out. Took alot of patince and a bunch of custom crap to make it work right and not look all rigged up. Ha, now you can buy everything to do it. blah..time flys! After we finished the swap, i drove it from va to mid ohio and we got lost so may times. took forever but that thing would just keep pulling and pulling. it's a sick swap. even a plain k20 into a hatch is a wicked little f*ck.

Ha, around me, our civics are riceD, JDM, USDM, camoflauged etc.. Gotta love country bumpkins
