Thinking about TSX
I am not new to Acura but am new to the TSX scene...
I had a beautiful 01 CL which I loved but sold due to the crappy transmission...
anyways I am about to be in the market for a sedan that gets good MPG and of course I like the luxury of Acura and the affordability of the used TSX's
my questions to you:
What common problems are there with the TSX?
is the hwy MPG really that good?
are there better years than others and options?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Common problems: stay away from the 2004's.
MPG: great, depending on how heavy of a right foot you have.
Options: I believe the only option you could opt out for was Bluetooth, and navigation
On a side not, I have a 2005 TSX, with rougly 78.000KMS Canadian, and it runs great, the only problem I ever ran into was the driver side door actuator, for the locking mechanism fail on me other then that nothing.

Ah yes the dreaded tranny issues... i was lucky that the used 98 Accord V6 I bought in 04 had a new tranny in it with <4k miles on it, and it worked flawlessly till I traded it in earlier this month for my new TSX! Changed the tranny fluid every 20k miles, that was about all I could do.
Many people will agree the sweet spot are the 06's. A bit of a redesign and it gained the features mentioned above, memory seats, bluetooth, etc. I think the 07 only gained the TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System), and the 08's didn't really get anything but a slightly higher MSRP I think.
Don't know if you can do it, but dealers are selling what is left of their 08 stock and from posts on the board looks like many are willing to go below invoice. This is to get rid of them before the new 09's hit in late April.

I have an 08' and get great gas highway gas milage, normally about 31-34mpg. When I go above 80, that drops to about 28-29.
If you read other threads, the city mileage is OK, normally about 23-26. Overall, most average 24-28mpg. You can easily average 32+ on a road trip.
I had an 01 TL-P and got rid of it for the same reason, I didn't want the transmission to go out. I've got a thread where I compare the two.
I love my TSX and with gas prices on the rise, it makes me feel I made a good decision.

I haven't had any problems so far with my '04 (knock on wood) yet, it's been solid.
I would have to admit I do yearn for the extra features that were added after the '04 model year, like the ones mentioned above. And I do really like the difference in the front spoiler, subtle but more aggressive looking.
Agreed that the '06 is the sweet spot.

I own an '04. I would probably steer clear if I were you. I have had the air compressor blow (about $1400) and had the driver's side seat rails replaced under warrantee. Other than that it has been a good car. Some have had problems with the center console lights going out.
My favorite YM is '05. A couple more options than the '04 and they worked out the bugs from the '04. The cosmetic changes in '06 to me were a step backward. I do not like what they did with the front fascia and location of the fog lights. I also HATE the wheels with a passion.

lol I dunno. I prefer the 06-08 TSX's (hell I bought an 08 last weekend), and similarly with the Civic I preferred the "defined" look the 99-00's had over the 96-98's. In general I like Hondas mid-cycle refreshes...

I'd go 06 if I were you... I had an 07 before i got the Bimmer and it was great, TONS of options on it but you can't do much under the engine because Hondata doesn't have a reflash on the 07/08 ECU's... which really is the key to unlocking the performance potential of the TSX. Plus you'll get lower miles on it and since the 09's will be out soon they might dip a bit in price when the new ones hit the sales floor.
