Is the stealer BSing me?

I got a price quote from the stealer bearby my place. Then i tried to goto another one a little further to try and see if they'll beat the original pricing. The stealer nearest to my house quoted $28,400 (nav). But then when i got the quote from another dealer, he said 28,700. When i asked him to beat my original quote he said that the price had actually just gone up $200 on the TSX in February. The other dealer is probably selling inventory leftover fromt he previous batch. Then he said that he could do $28,500.
I really think he's BSing me. Why would Acura suddenly increase the price midway through the 2005 year?

The dealer further away was the one that i found on carsdirect too!

I'm just a little POed

I dont like being BSed around!

He's not BSing you. This has already been covered in another thread. Its some kind of factory parts fee if I remember correctly. That is why the invoice price on Acura's website jumped $200. I just made the cut and purchased my TSX at the end of January right before the price jump

btw. they still should be able to go lower. I got my TSX w/ Nav for $27,525. Add $200 to that and you get $27,725, plus this included All season mats and wheel locks.

Try another dealer. It seems like a lot of people are able to get a TSX with navi for around $27500... but that'll vary a little by year and location.

I got my 2004 TSX with Navi for $27599 OTD (includes destination) in Manhattan. Others have been getting even better. I think Savio on another thread just got quoted $27200 on a 2005 with Navi.

Get the best quote from all the Acura dealerships in your state, then go back to the dealership that you prefer and have them match or better the price. If they give you some bs about how you shouldn't buy from a dealership that is xx miles away, just tell them that you don't care, you're going to go to the dealership that gives you the best price. Also tell them that, you can go to any Acura dealer to get serviced anyways so it really doesn't matter. They'll feel like idiots and will have to bow down to your knowledge

OTD usually includes taxes and stuff. So does that mean you got yours for under $27K???

To be clear, I meant $27599 including destination fees. Tax was 6% in NJ.

That's exactly what I did. My current Acura dealership didn't want to loose my business and matched the best price and did a little better. Shop around. Getting online quotes is usually the easiest way.

You can also get good deals by using the internet guy. Go to the website made for your local dealer and talk to that guy. For some reason when I do deals via the net, namely with blanket e-mails to numerous dealers, I always pay invoice, or close to it. In fact, I don't think I've paid more than 200 over invoice on my last 3 car purchases. (04 TSX, 04 RSX-S, and 03 Tundra)

I took virtual bong's advice before and i tried doing that. They all seem to tell me that this car is hard to find and they only have a few in stock. The best price i'm geting so far is $28,400 (nav) +++
I know that they can do better. I've e-mailed all of the dealers in the Atlanta area. 28,400 is the best...
Man... how do you guys get 27.5?

I even tried to get the higher dealers to beat the price of $28,400. They just tell me they can't do it.

Any advice?

205 w/Nav

I got the same response in AZ, INITIALLY. I was not in a hurry, and told the dealers this fact. After I got the first round of "invioce+$1400" quotes, I waited about two weeks. Then the dealers started getting in touch with me with "special deals" (Invoice+$300-$500) they could do for me if i was willing to buy right away. After going through this with four different dealers, I took the best qoute (invoice+$200) to the local dealer and said "Beat It". They did, and I bought from them. You just have to be patient and persistant.

I'm getting quotes of $28,560 (Baranco) ,and 28,460 (Acura Carland). I'm gonna go to dealerships this weekend and next week and see if they can give me a better deal. It seems like it's really hard to get a good deal in Atlanta. I might just buy from Montclair Acura (out of state) since they only want 25,895 for a non-navi TSX. With Navi OTD, it'd be ~ $27,895 + georgia tax + ~$550 for shipping. Lemme know if you find any better prices though.

Wait 'em out. You never want to go in and expect to get a car within a day or two... after a couple of weeks, they'll try to get you back in the dealership with discounts offered over the phone or email and that's the time you can start dealing. I waited about 2 months because they told me the combination was hard to get... eventually something that was my second choice came up (surprisingly at the end of the month!) and I paid a little more than invoice to get it off their lot. Patience is a virtue in this game.

Are you only trying to do this over the phone and via email? Here are the steps I would take:

1. Get the best quote on the Internet by the Internet Sales Manager from each dealership

2. Then bring in the printed out email with the quote to my preferred dealership and see if they would better the price

3. If they are only willing to match the price, then I would say that I'll think about it and go to my next preferred dealership

4. If the second preferred dealership is willing to better the quote, take down the quote and tell them that you'll think about it and repeat steps 2-4 until you get the best deal.

Dealerships will only better a GOOD quote if you actually walk into the dealership and negotiate in person. That's my on that.

Patience...I agree. I was getting in the range of $800-$1000 off invoice non-navi originally from local and out of town. I waited and sure enough dealers started calling me back...they had inventory, sales, blah blah blah. Best was invoice plus $400, my local dealer said they'd do invoice plus $500 so I gave the business to the local guy since it was only $100 and he let me take the car out a few times etc.

On that subject, it seems dealers in my area do indeed have many more TSX's on the lot recently. Maybe sales are slowing? Keep shopping around, it might be time to make a deal.

What state are you located in? If you have several surrounding states you're willing to drive to, negotiate that way. Just because you buy from them doesn't mean you have to service with them.
I drove 7 hours from home to get my IS300, and saved tons of money, even after the trip to get there and back.
Another example, I was looking at S2Ks not too long ago, all delaers in my area were selling at or over MSRP. I found a dealer in CA that was gonna sell at invoice. Is it worth the 12 hour drive? Hell yeah. Just depends how much your dollar truly means to you.
