A slight sad feeling

I was browsing this forum when I saw an ad from the dealer where I purchased my first TSX and traded off for an 06. After clicking the link I saw this

http://www.superiorkc.com/detail.asp...ura/TSX/Sedan/

Posting of my old TSX - SOLD. I didnt image they would hold on to it for a time. I really wanted to send my girlfriend over there and find out what they were asking for it.

So...what's so "sad" about it ??? it's not as if you found out it got wrecked.
and why would you care "what they were asking for it" ?

Also why did you trade ? just curious. Did you get the nav this time ?

sorry questions...

You're lucky to be rid of that hideous POS dude, seriously. Your 06 is so much nicer.

Hey there nino!

I understand 100% what you mean. Others here obviously don't. 1) If you spend over 40K miles with a car you 'know it' and 2) After over 40K miles you may be a little attached to the car.

As odd as that sounds, you may have taken your kid home from the hospital in that car or drove it to your college graduation or proposed to your girl in it or WHATEVER. But the point is, I think, that people sometimes are curious what happens after they get rid of their cars.

I don't know, I probably sound odd but that is my .

Interesting how attached we get to our cars, isn't it? I used to name my cars, as if they were human . . . and while I don't do that any more, the feeling is still there.

I recently totaled an Accord I had driven for ten years. That remains a very sad day, because I loved the car and think it gave its life for mine. I walked away from the crash, but the Accord didn't.

After it was towed away, I stopped by it to clean it out, and drove by it on a daily basis just to look at it. One day, the guy at the garage told me it was going to be auctioned off, and after that it was gone. I still have the license plates: They are on the floor of my TSX.

Your feelings are what they are. Don't let other people invalidate them. I think to a great extent, your car is an extension of yourself. So, maybe loving your car says something about your own self-esteem.

Yeah, strange as it sounds to some, I get attached to my cars, too. Some folks find that downright weird. Maybe it's that they represent the ultimate in freedom or something, I dunno.

Great post, ChasC. Its only natural to get attached to a car, you drive it every day and it does a lot for you. Doesn't really matter if its an inanimate object or not. I have an Accord that I have had for close to 10 years, and selling it is proving to be very difficult, even though I don't really need the car.

I just sold my first car last month, after driving it for 8+ yrs. Twas a very sad day. If it weren't for the crazy high price I got , I would have cried having to walk away from it. Getting to drive my week old TSX didn't hurt either.
I don't understand the people that don't get attached to their cars. If you spend so much time and love in/with/working on/maintaining a car, you're bound to get attached to it. As jimstsx said, there are so many moments in your life that your car is associated with (secondarily or otherwise). And since my old car was a Honda, it was always there, ready and willing, when I needed it.

Who needs a puppy, when you can get unconditional love from your car?

I'm going to have that feeling soon... So today I placed a deposit down today on an 06 NHB/Eb/6MT/Navi that's supposed to come at the end of January... it'll be kinda sad leaving Yui at 34k miles when I go pick up the new car. A friend recently bought a light blue Scion tC and remarked that the color reminded her of my car, and when she came to visit was petting my car fondly. She doesn't know it's going... =| Part of me is almost hoping they give me a crap deal on the trade-in (but they're asking only 28.5k on the 06 navi) so I'll have a reason to back out...

My car's name is Tizzy.

Tizzy the TSX.

Yes, I'm attached

It's always sad to give up a car when they are good to you. Someone will have to pull me out kicking and screaming when I get rid of Tizzy.

I gave my car a Japanese name seeing as that's where it was made. My forum name was based on the name of my car. I'm actually Chinese.

when i bought my tsx, i sold my '96 maxima to my girlfriend's dad. he bought it for her younger sister. i was attached to that car (i absolutely loved the car), and thought it'd be great since i'd still get to see it.

next thing you know, a few months later, i get a call from my girlfriend saying the car was wrecked and totalled. her sister was fine, but the car was sent to a junkyard. that was a very sad day...

Related story.....

I had just graduated from high school and had an '87 Celica GT in excellent shape. I was too STUPID to realize how nice the car was...like 60k miles all the original papers and owner info on the car. Loaded up and PERFECT!

Well, anywho, I had the car, wrecked it bad, had it fixed, kept it for a while and then sold it to my neighbor. It was in great shape and had been put back together like new. She had just got her license and was using it to go about 3 miles each way to school. SOOOOOOO she has it for like 3 years and then one day BAM...just gone!

I finally see the car a year or so later and it is owned by some kid that really enjoyed it. Got to talking with him, met his dad and sat in the car. He had saved up to buy it and was keeping it in nice shape. About 140K on the car at that time but it really didn't look bad. It was like going back in time. Then I watched him drive away in that car.

About a year after that I saw it again....I almost wish that I didn't see it. Because someone had just driven that car into the ground!! I don't know who owned it at that time but the thing looked like it was on it's way to the scrap heap. It was nothing like I had and nothing that I remembered. It was just a mess!! I still feel bad about it to this day.

I know that sounds odd....but I FOR SURE had a lot of memories in that car. Almost went through the front windshield for petes sake!!! Ah...that just sucks
