Show climate control modes in auto?

I think the answer is probably "no" but is there a way to set the climate control display to show what it's doing in Auto mode? i.e., I'd like to see the A/C on or off, what is the fan speed, what mode, etc., like you get when you override the system.

Not important, I just like to know!

(On a related note, I'd also like it to always show the gear selector even if you're in Drive. Again, just nice to know! But I read somewhere that this is not possible)

My guess is that all that stuff is possible (just not in a TSX....).

Check the Easter egg thread, there is a diagnostic mode that uses the climate control display to show what certain sensors are reading, but I don't think what you want is one of the options.

Thanks. I remember seeing something in that thread about sensor displays, but you are right, that's not what I was looking for. I would have liked to see the fan speed, mode, and whether A/C is on/off even in auto mode. Essentially, these things show up as you override the auto mode but I'd like to see them even in auto.

I always thought it was stupid not to show this. My Camry shows this stuff.

You could wire an LED in parallel with the compressor clutch if want... and could even get a bar graph readout based on the fan speed. You would have to reprogram the display to get that displayed, but the point of the automatic controls is that you don't have to know/care about it anyway - just let it run.

I'm sure that was their logic for why not to show the display. Personally, I'd still like to see it in action - watching the fan crank up & down, watching which mode it's currently in and changing, etc. Must be the geek in me!

Sounds like a needless distraction to me, but to each 'is/'er own.

You may not know that by holding the AUX/XM button for 10 seconds, you can turn off the clock, radio, and climate displays, until the next time the car is started. I presume it's a night driving "darken zulu" function. ... Courtesy of the Easter Egg thread.

Of course, it should have the ability to show/hide the details of the climate control. One of the things about customizing - the more you get, the more you want! The TSX has options that I haven't seen on too many cars - setting unlock for just driver or all doors, light timers, etc. Yet I want more!

Yes, I did read about the clock, radio, and climate displays on the Easter Egg thread - that was a great read!
