Bumper foam piece missing = ???

So question... you know how everyone has that piece of foam under their bumper? I don't. Took off my bumper for the first time today and this is what I see...

Is this a problem? Or a better question (cause I know it isn't a really big problem) what is that foam there for in the first place?

Well, #12 is the absorber. It absorbs minor impact and provides backing support for the bumper cover. I just don't like the fact it's missing. I would go back to the dealer and let them know about it.

Yeah I probably will... kinda wierd it's missing. They did my foglight install about a month ago, you would have thought they would notice it. The fit is def gonna hit the shan though if they try to blame this on me. "Well it must have been there sir, you must have removed it'"... that will be some

I think they removed it during the foglight install and forgot to put them back on. Oops, extra parts. It happens all the time...

I cant imagine that it really does much. If you rear end someone at low speed, your bumpers already fucked up and you probably wont have frame damage. And if you're going fast, well you're already screwed so once again foam doesn't matter. Mine fell off during my fog light install, but I put it back in because it can't hurt.

Does it simply lock/snap in to part 11 from seeing this image (part 16 is the absorber)? I noticed it has 2 protruding pieces on the back of it.

^It's one big piece of styrofoam. The protruding pieces is part of the whole
