Second car.

Just the other day, my boss ask me, if a car cost $1 each, what will I get. Well, I told him I'll get every single one of them.

That got me thinking. Since a car cost a lot more than $1, and most of us here have already spent $27K on a good car, provided a chance, what will your second car be?

I really want a lightweight, open top, 2 seat RWD sports car. I am thinking of getting Lotus Elise when it became avaliable here in US. What do you guys think about it? What will you get instead?

A coworker of mine has a 1970-something Lotus Super-7 or something like that. Looks like a cool "fun car" to have.

The Elise is nice...i already have a coupe so the next car i want is an AWD for ski season...maybe the G35 AWD but its too nice of a car to be sloshing through the snow and road salt

The S2000 just seems the most obvious.
I did see a prototype on the Elise. Car looked great but parts
were badly fit.
When they come out, wait a year and visit their car boards and
find out the quality issues. That was a major concern for me.

The S2000 would be your best bet for a credible and reliable and servicable 2-seat roadster.

Actually, I almost bought an S2000 before I bought the TSX. But the cockpit is way too small for me@6ft4inches. The steering wheel is in between my legs and I can't close the top....

Oh, you already have a second car, and it's a NSX!!! I really envy you...

Anyways, I can't fit in NSX as well...

So you would consider an S2000?

I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm 6'3" with size-13s and I can't even work the pedals on the S2000.

So for my $1, I'll have to take either a 911 or a Boxster, depending on the weather. Sniff.

NSX to S2000... On a cost no object note, the Vanquish would be the winner...

Look at that wheel articulation!! Is that stock?

This is a good question, and one I've thought about before. I would only need to spend four bucks:

1. Porsche 911 Turbo (the fun car)
2. BMW M5 (the all-around car)
3. Mazda Miata (the commuter)
4. Previous generation Land Cruiser (the current ones are ugly) (I hate SUVs, but I need a stuff-hauler)

I'm thinking a used RX-300. Be nice to be able to haul stuff around and the 4wd would be nice on really snowy days.

Right now my family owns a 03 Infiniti G35 sedan, a 01 Acura 3.2CL coupe, and a 95 Honda Accord EX V6 sedan. But ideally I want to get rid of the Honda and probably the Acura also and get two other cars instead, the combinations could be the following:

First combo:
Infiniti G35 sedan(currently own)
Lexus RX330(replace the Accord)
Acura TSX(trade in the CL for it)

Second combo:
Infiniti G35 sedan(currently own)
Lexus ES330(replace the Accord)
Acura TSX(trade in the CL for it)

Third combo:
Infiniti G35 sedan(currently own)
Lexus LS430(replace the Accord)
Acura 3.2CL(leave it alone due to the high price of the Lexus)

My second car would be steel grey BMW M Coupe, preferably with the 315HP S54 engine.

Be prepared for someone to rat on your choice because of reliability

Who cares about reliability when each car only cost you $1? That leaves plenty of cash left over for visits to the shop!

(Oh wait, there's always that Murphy's Law chance that when you're in a hurry to get somewhere, you'll break down and be stuck on the side of the road for waaaay too long... :p )

Well, here's my all-car-happy-meal:

1. BMW M5 (daily driver)
2. Lotus Elise (Weekend autocross car)
3. Lamborghini Gallardo (Track car)
4. Honda Oddysey (or any good MiniVan, VW MicroBus, maybe? For Long trips and hauling stuff)

Actually, if cars cost $1 each, I'll buy all of them. But then, the cost of building a garage big enough to hold that many cars will probably drain my checking account, and left me with nothing for gas...

Not very usefull to pay 1$ for a car that you can't afford the price of parts!!!
