Sad News, I Got Hit!
damn it's a bad day...i got rear ended by a ford explorer
just got back from the autoshop. so here's the story:
heading to the bar to meet up w/friends...i was entering the southbound fdr ramp, yielding to traffic ready to merge left into fdr. while waiting for the lane to open up, the ford explorer came out of nowhere and hit me, on my right rear where the TSX lights are.
so scratched up both my passenger side doors when he wedged between my car and the wall. front bumper is misaligned by the shock of the collision too...
estimated 5k-7k damage...pics to come....

My family owns a body shop (State Farm and Prudential First sponsored) that will gladly take care of your needs if you would like. Only reason i'm suggesting this is that my own TSX was brought to life from salvage a month ago and my father and brother (the owners/managers) are pretty familiar with the car along with workers, especially the dashboard, which was an 8 hour removal job. The shop has a spray paint booth, exclusively uses PPG Global products and is located in Coney Island. Let me know.

I have a this sucks story also. MY MSM TSX was considered a total loss on Tue. My baby received 6 inches of rain in an hour most of it on the inside. I m waiting for my settlement from my insurance company. I had only driven the car a total of 3 weeks!! I was just starting to get used to it!!!!!! Oh well! Cest la vie

That sucks man
And to add to the insult, you got hit by probably the most inapt vehicle on our roads nowadays. The Explorer should have been taken out of production many, many years ago.

Sorry to hear that. Are you going to get another TSX or something else?

Damage to TSX
Sorry to hear about all these misfortunes. I heard that TSX received the worst rating from insurance companies because it is soo expensive to fix a wrecked TSX. I am just curious as to how much you guys pay for insurance. I know it varies a lot but I just would like to have an idea.

I hope the driver of the Explorer is insured. That's gonna suck total ass to get all the repaired. Just hope there was no damage to the frame from the initial hit. Otherwise, it's pretty much a paint and replace job, for the most part.

the Explorer was insured under the driver's aunt's name, thru AIG. the sad part was the suv's airbags deployed when he sandwiched the vehicle between my car and the wall.
the explorer's front bumper and radiator was gone, and his suspension was cracked. it looked like someone's beaten you up when airbags deploy... too bad i couldn't take pics of their suv.

One guy got the car checked out by two mechanics and they both said there's nothing wrong so I was lucky, but I'm sure it dropped at least $1000-$2000 off the resale value of the car. If your car is fixed good you'll probably find someone who doesn't care so much, but trust me, a few years from now when you're selling your TSX, you'll be cursing the Explorer driver.
