Red Linning question

Hi All,

I accidentally red lined today. Do any of you think this is a problem? My guess is that, since there is a limiter, doing this once in a while is no problem.

Thanks, Greg

What about a single bounce off of the rev limiter?

Accidentally hit it tonight... OOPS!

Any damage to be done, and/or what are the possible implications of this?

I purposely redline several time a day. Done it with every Honda I've ever owned. Never a problem.

Sometimes even fourth gear .

I've bumped the limiter a couple of times too........

Honda is build for redline! It is a crime if you not redline it!

You'll be fine. There's a reason why vtec doesn't engage until 6000 rpms. It's made to rev like crazy.

What is the reason, anyway? If Hondata figures the other cam profile should be engaged earlier, why does Honda/Acura leave it so late? There's not much left from 6000 to 7100. What am I not understanding here?

Check out the "Hondata Can/Acura Can't" thread.

As for bumping off of the rev-limiter, some people have told me this is really bad for the engine -- can anyone confirm??

Thanks,
~Eric

no it isnt. the whole purpose for the rev limiter is to prevent ur engine from any harm. these engine are even maybe designed to turn even faster but it would not be economical or even give more power. u and your car will be fine.

For some reason, my car can redline past 7500 or so. I'll try it again later today and see what happens. But the fuel cutoff doesn't seem to cutoff at the right point.
