REALLY want an 04 TSX but find it hard to swallow ~$21000 for one

I'm currently driving an 04 Accord LX 4cyl AT sedan. Just got a new job and I really want a new car. I should wait exactly a year to look at a new car for a few reasons:

1. I only have one more year to pay off the Accord
2. More information will be available on the new TL and TSX

My reasons for buying an 04 TSX now is:

1. My payments are $500/month now, I'll pay the same with the TSX but for an additional 2 years (3 years total).
2. I'll have a much funner car to drive on my 50 mile roundtrip commute to work each day
3. I'm probably going to settle with the TSX because in a few years I'm going to have different priorities than getting a new car. I figured I should get what I want now instead of getting something much more expensive later on.

If I find an 04 TSX w/ Navigation (in socal) for around $18000 with acceptable miles (<60k miles) I'll probably jump on it, but all of the TSX's in my area (Orange County, CA) they run for around $20-21k and the sellers are very firm on their prices. Is it reasonable for me to expect to pay around $18000?

I also wanted to see what everyone else's opinions are on my above "situation" haha.

I'd hold off for a year and pay off the Accord. (Or make extra payments and pay it off early). By then we'll probably have pics of the 09 TSX which will help you decide.

If you still want one in a year I'd recomend an 06+. Might as well get the best one if you're gonna have to get in it every day.

Ahhh!!!! it's so tempting though :P

My regular payments are $265/month but I'm doubling them now that I have a better job. I just know that I don't want to keep this car for two more years.

I was thinking about considering an 06 just because of all the improvements, but the price isn't much lower than an 07, and the price of an 07 is pretty close to $30,000 OTD and if I were to go with the 07 I would just wait for the 09 models and see how they turn out.

I got my '06 two weeks ago for $26,600 total. She only had 5k miles on her when I drove her back from Shreveport. I probably could have done a little better, but I had a trade...you never make money on a trade. A new '07 Accord EXL would have cost about $600 less, but after driving both it was an easy choice to go with the TSX. Good luck.

Here's the dealer site....I think the one I bought is still listed.

You might do better on the price if you go for a non-navi unit (not sure if that's a major feature you want). Also, I'm not sure if XM was available in the 04 unit, whereas it is with 05 and 06.

I'm going to take the advice and wait. I wouldn't go for a non-navi unit unless the car costs $15,000 (so I can pay it off in 2 years) because I don't want to keep a car that misses a feature that I've always wanted for 3 years. If I go with an 04 Navi now, I'll be satisfied for maybe a year and a half but there's the possibility that the new TSX and TL will be totally awesome and I will hate myself for having to pay off the 04 for two more years before I can get them

You can easily get a 2007 for $26,500. I would just save a lil more and get new since thats not a huge gap for new and used. Goodluck

Damn, now I'm considering again just because I'll be moving out in a year to an apartment (yay!) and I'd be worried about having a brand new 09 TSX or TL sitting out there for mother nature and the reckless tenants to park next to.

I'm in a similar situation.

$20,000-22,000 for a USED car is a lot of money. It seems a new TSX is now going for $26,500(non-navi) So I think I'll wait and save money over the summer, and then go for a new TSX...just as the 2007 model year ends. .... hopefully Acura will have some incentives...?

I'm just worried about my insurance skyrocketing with a new car. Did anyone see a huge increase in their insurance with a new TSX?
