I got pulled over yesterday and had my radar detector on the dash. Right before the cop let me go he starts going on about the detector on my dash and how they are illegal in New York State. This was news to me. They are sold all over the place.

Does anyone have any info on this?

 

Haven't had one in a long while but I always thought that it was illegal in NY. Urban myth??? Too lazy to check.

 

Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington DC are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors.
