Question for Nav Owners

Question for Nav Owners

Does the HVAC and sound system still work when the DVD unit is unplugged? Can/has anyone try/tried this?

Unhappy No!

Those bastards at Acura built it so that the interface for your audio and A/C unit work in unison. As of the moment, my Navi doesnt work but all the other stuff works. I tried unplugging the Nav unit so that i wouldnt get that STUPID message "DVD Disc read error. Please consult your dealer" and didnt see anything one the screen and none of the buttons worked. So, to answer your question, no...sorry brother.

Ahh, ok... so just what I had suspected.

I'm trying to figure out a way to use the factory Nav screen for carpc without using the Navi DVD unit, while still maintaining the HVAC and audio functions through the Nav screen unit..

Do you have an 06+ TSX? There's a navi hack...basically you trick the navi into thinking that you're going in reverse, and it'll switch the screen to a 2nd input (normally a back-up camera, but others have used it to connect a dvd player). Maybe that'll be useful info for you...
