PWP skirt not matching the rest of the car?

I recently picked up a 2004 PWP TSX and had the dealer install the OEM kit. They put a brand new kit on, although the car is about 2 years old.

I think it might just be me, BUT, the kit doesn't quite match the rest of the car. The kit seems a bit too bright, and the car a very very faint shade of yellow compared to the kit.

Is there any way to verify for sure, or is this possibly just the pearl in the paint causing the different angle to look like a different shade of pearl white?

I think once I clean the car and claybar the existing paint, it might look better, but I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this with pearl paint before. I've never owned a car w/ pearl paint, and I must say, the PWP is PIMP.

Thanks for any insight.

I think it's prob. due to the car's paint decaying a little over time... I can see a little dif., subtle, but I can see it...

There is a slight color mismatch. Try using a cleaner wax and then follow it up with a clay bar. You'd be surprised how much contamination attaches itself to your paint in 2 years.

You can click on the pics and then select a large side from below the pic.

I think a claybar will help and maybe a paint scrub (Mother's Glaze/Polish).

We'll see!

Are we all looking at the same pictures. It is definitely whiter with the kit. I assume it is very difficult to match the paint, but the dealer didn't even try to paint the kits with matching paint. They just put on some kit that was already painted. You have two choices. You can accept the difference and learn to enjoy the two tones or you can be dogmatic and send it back to get it repainted to your car's matching paint color.

Good luck

It's quite normal, I beleive paint and clear coat fades after a while (sun, soap...). If I remember correctly, if you've been using the touchless car washes very often, your car paint will fade quickly since the soap used is very strong strong (if you leave this soap on your car for more than 15 minutes, your car will need a new paint job). I guess it has to be since to clean your car without using any rubbing.

You are right. I am just trying to be funny. The car and the kits will never match completely.

The kit plastic, the car bumper plastic, and the sheet metal all reflect paint a tad different if you look even some silver cars don't have a perfect match b/t bumpers and sheet metal OE paint.

It's normal for the paint to be off a tad, give it a few months and you likely will have swirl marked and dirtied the kit enough you won't notice

i agree that there is a little diff in the paint (most evident in the 3rd pic) but i would say after some months thing will balance out.

So not worth going back to get it re-done I'd assume... It's REALLY close, and after a good cleaning and polish of the rest of the car, I'm pretty sure it'll be nearly impossible to tell.

I hope.

Its very hard to see any difference. I'm sure a casual observer wouldn't notice but you, as the typically obsessive TSX owner, picked up on it.

It is possible that it was painted the wrong shade of white. Go to the dealership and compare to a brand new TSX.
