Question Oil Catch Can

The guy in the smog check place says that adding an oil catch can will mess up the emission system. Is he making any sense?

A closed system recycles crankcase blowby, oil vapor to the combustion camber. If you place a catch can in between the PCV valve and the intake manifold, it's still a closed system.

An open system doesn't recycle crankcase blowby, but allows venting to the atmosphere instead. If you see a catch can with a filter on top, it's an open system. An open system is usually found on FI setup engines as the PCV system is not operational during boost (the PCV valve requires vacuum to operate).
