My first accident :(

Not much to say, i was following a person, going around 20-30, got to a traffic light which had just turned yellow.

we were fairly close to it, so i assumed the person was gonna keep going, but they stopped short, i hit them in the back.

There car was fine, honda civic, old school, fender bender.

My car :

Cracked left headlight
Grill is pushed down
Bumper is cracked
Hood is bent

Estimated at 3.5~

Insurance is covering it, except for 1000 dollars.

Ill have pics up tonight, no one was hurt, i hit an elderly woman, persian, didnt speak english.

Clearly, my fault, wasent paying attention, and apparantly, following to closely behind, glad my radiator didnt crack, or anything else other then cosmetics.

Im dropping my car off tomato morning, and having my loaner by 10...great....anyways, everyone has to get there accident cherrry popped sometime right?

Only plus to it all, is i have some gashses on my front bumper, which is now gonna be gone, and im getting the car detailed, but still, it hurts to look at her.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that. $1000 deductable! (I have that too)

You're one of the few who accept responsibility. I respect that. Hope things turn out well and your car gets put back together the way it used to be.

It took me several accidents to be a more careful driver. I'm actually glad they happened because I learned a lot from them in many ways. It wasn't a "hard" lessen I had to learn, in that I didn't die from it.

Yea, no more tailgating or remotely tailgating for me anymore. I never thought id get into an accident, but then again, i shoulda known better.

Im glad im having a loaner though, it would suck not having a car for a week... When i saw my headlight, i was liek "fuck, this is going to be expensive"

It is only a bad mistake if you don't learn anything from it.

Glad everyone was alright.

heehee

i had my car for under 2 months when i was pulling into a parking space at work and scraped my front driver's side 1/4 panel and bumper on a cement support column. grrrr!
i claimed insurance, since there were other things being fixed also (someone keyed my hood and circuit city scratched my roof). my deductible was $500, but i got a $250 diminished value check from geico. my premium went up almost $100 every six. fortunately, circuit city cut me a decent check for their part of repairs and i didn't have to pay too much out of pocket for the hood.

a girl with an acura who won't park there again

Same here. Two fender benders did the trick. I no longer tailgate and I get on the brakes sooner and harder now when I see the brake lights in front of me.

I got most of my accidents earlier in my driving career and it has gotten me to be a much safer driver.

I got into most of my accidents earlier in my driving career as well. Three to be exact, two werent my fault cause the guy rear-ended me, and i agree those experiences have also gotten me to become a much safer driver.

Yea, funny thing, the night before me and 2 friends were talking about accidents, and how one of my friends father had taken his escalde EXT out and got into an accident w/ it, where i responded, "yea ive never been in an accident".

Next morning....

Is it possible to tell the autobody shop to clear out my headlights?

How bad are they bent? This is the real reason why I haven't bought rims yet.

the bend isant that bad, but bad enough that i would want it fixed, i.e causes vibrations at slow speeds when braking.

Careless driving on my part, but ill have em fixed, at something like 150~ a rim, worth it IMO, especially if im going to be buying new tires.

What up Rmatic...Sorry to hear about your accident man. That sucks.

See if you can get the Euro R headlights since you'll need new ones anway. Hopefully the body shop can work something out with you. I bet OEM replacements would cost close to the same as getting Euro R headlights.

Can you get your insurance company to cover the cost of fixing the rim too?

i doubt it, and it would take way to long to have euro R headlights brought in, im getting my car back on thursday, and insurance wouldent cover the rims due to the explanation of the accident.

So shes back in the driveway....looks PERFECT, good as new, and got rid of some gashes that i originally had on my old bumper.

Im very happy no engine harm took place, and now that im here i might as well compare some cars...

2000 Ford Taurus- Drives like a tank, terrible blindspots..awful
2005- BMW x3 - Peppy, quick acceleration, pretty nice
2004 Acura TSX- Amazing , i respect the Cars handling and nimbleness so much more now after driving those 2 cars for a week and a half.

Time to Protect!

Glad to hear you or the person was not hurt. When I drive my TSX, I never tailgate, Reason? I dont want to be near unsafe drivers.

You wont believe what jealous drivers will do, you can never trust them or predict how unsafe they will react after seeing a nice car such as your TSX.

Solution: I carry in my glove compartment. Flashlight, Notepad and pencil, camera, all necessary insurance paperwork and phone numbers,

Be prepared to take down every single detail of the incident, location, other drivers name address, phone, work phone (very important), their insurance info, and camera snapshots of everything! I would call police for an accident report so its official no matter who's fault you think it may be.

Even though you hit that person from behind, That person's reaction to the yellow light seems unstable and sudden.
Just another proof unsafe drivers with crappy cars will try everything to get your attention and cause something.

My experience is funny, After buying my TSX a couple of weeks ago, Carbon Gray Pearl, 2005, I drove the speed limit with no full throttle starts because I was breaking in the new iV-tec engine.

Many "Ricers" and people with crappy cars tailgated me first and then drove past me and cut me off.

However, one driver got caught doing that and a Local Police cruiser was next to me and saw that aggresive and unsafe driving, and pulled that driver over!

Just to prove you should be protective of your beloved TSX even when you drive, not only when you take care of it.

Hope everything works out and no crappy cars bother you anymore!

TSX rocks!

You know, this is the second accident I've heard in this forum involving a TSX rear-ending someone. Are the stock brakes not good enough...? What are you thoughts?

Stock brakes are plenty good....

My thoughts....

Rmatic oughta keep his eyes on the road

Seriously, i wasent paying nearly as much attention as i should have, lucky for me i was only going 20-30 mph (speed limit)
