Hey bysin, nice bit of hacking! I've always been amazed by the resourcefulness of gamers.
The Back.bmp hack is way cool, but I wish the new screen would stay up through the entire start-up sequence, and the OK button should either be omitted or "press" itself. Maybe the instructions which erase the screen before writing the disclaimer text could be NOP'd so the Back.bmp would stay up longer. The OK button could be harder to fix but it seems logical that when it is pressed a branch is taken in the program code which could be copied to an earlier point in the code just before the OK button is drawn on the screen.
I wonder when the actual initialization is completed. If the NAVI is finished initializing by the time the disclaimer screen comes up, then it is probably just sitting in a series of timer loops... the disclaimer text is drawn, wait, the OK button is drawn, wait, if button not pressed in time - disable map display. While the program code might use a hardware timer and interrupt, the simpler approach of spinning in a loop would account for the lack of responsiveness during this period (e.g., can't switch to the Audio screen). Just some thoughts....
Replacing existing WinCE code with generic PDA-like code seems a little overly ambitious at this point if we can't defeat the Nag screen! (insert something about baby steps and low hanging fruit)

PCMCIA Card may work ??
I had posted the same in TL forum, figured save Bysin the time to look it up here.
I had a PCMCIA card extension with a 1GB micro drive,
I copied all the required BIN files to this drive, and chose "LOAD FROM CARD" instead of CD/DVD, and after a 5-10 secs. it said ATA Card read error. So unless it is looking for a specific folder .. i dont know what could be wrong .. May be Bysin can look into this. Will save him all this burning media...
I know the drive works for the car, I tested it by, holding the MENU button for 10 extra seconds from the main diagnostic menu, it brought me to developer menu, and I went to Logs, and clicked Save logs to PCMCICA. and it successfully created .txt files of logs dumps from the Navi System.
If anyone wants me to try anything else.. I am Open, unless you ask me to bomb my car

hey guys for some reason it is taking about 5 secs to load the image that i saved from Bysin's page
i read somewhere in these 30 pages that it was happening to people making their own pictures but i thought Bysin fixed all the ones on his page so that they wouldnt take 5 secs to load???
any suggestions?

I'm sorry if this has been said before, but what if you had the factory mp3 cd player in your car, would it be possible to make a program control that so you can actually see the id3 tags and have a better interface? playlists etc?

Two quick questions, where can I find the Acura logo with a clear background so I can load it on my back.bmp? And, how do I upload my back.bmp to the board? I clicked the "insert image" button but it takes me to html land, where I'm lost...

Ask, and ye shall receive:
Acura Logo
As for the image, click the image button, type in the address (the photo must be uploaded to a server or photo service, Acurazine does not store them for you) and it will show up.

is there any way that you might be able to add a smaller size for the back.bmp edit in the gui
for some reason that 480*234 is taking 5 secs to load lol
just a thought maybee you can make a checkbox to choose what size you want
other than that good work

Basically you need to:
1) Reduce DIMENSION
2) Reduce color depth (to 173 @ 8 bit)

Can anyone direct me to the most current instructions on how to change the NAVI info. I saw the first post of this thread but am wondering if there is a up to date one anywhere on here? Any help to the latest instructions would be greatly appreciated!
#755
Just go to the original posted website as there is a readme file with the download.
