Do you think your car will be stolen? Then the answer is yes.

Think it might NOT be stolen? Then the answer is no.

Simple enough...

Go ask previous Integra type-R owners if Lo-jack works....

It is VERY easy to disable the transponder on it. When my Integra got stolen a few years ago, the theives simply.....umm never mind I don't want to teach car jacking 101...

depends upon your area. i would suggest it but DONT LET THE DEALERSHIP screw you on it. Thats a huge moneymaker for the finance offices. I hope no salesmen on here get mad at me for this. Do the research before you buy it. But i would get it

Can you use a ball point pen like that bicycle lock?

just trust the imobilizer. if they really want it - they'll get it.

I agree. I got Lojack and wish I had saved the $ for mods instead. It is a nice feeling to sleep better at night, but people will get your car if they really want it and in the end you have insurance anyway. With the imobilizer one of the only situations where Lojack will help you is if theives put your car on a flat bed and tow it away. On the other hand I heard that cops really find those cars quick with Lojack. So in the gamble of life you will have to make this decision based on how much you are willing to gamble on someone trying to steal your car.

FYI...My Lojack device went off once when the car was parked on the street and hadn't moved since the day before. Very questionable IMO.

If the 15% saving from your insurance company can cover the cost of the device = Yes

If not = No

Shit, I figured it costs 900 to get installed and costs 1000 if it gets stolen and I have to get a new one. I didn't get lojack.

I discourage LoJack. I put my trust in the immobilizer. For burglary (wheels, stereo, parts) get a serious alarm put in by a paranoid like me : )

Sales people dont get paid on add-ons (extended warranties, lojack, financing commisisons etc...). They get paid on the front end net. In other words the profit from the actual sale of the price of the car. So excluding destination, doc fees, etc...
If a dealer sold a car for $500 below invoice and the holdback on the car form the factory was $750. Depending on the dealer or how many cars they've sold, they can get anywhere from 25%-50% of that profit which is $250. If the buyers load up with aftermarket alarms, lojack, extended warranties, gap insurance, etc... the salespeople get nothing. The financing managers get that.

i chose not to install lo jack myself, didnt feel like spending the extra money, but i do use it quiet frequently. lo jack is linked with stolen vehicle system. If you should report your vehicle stolen and we enter it into computer as such, it automatically activates the stolen transponder. some helicopters and lots of blk/wht have it installed and are on and tracking 24/7. much better than on star and those things. We recover cars every single cause of lo jack, and like advertise. usually within first 24 hours if not first few hours. Its standard stuff on our chopper and cruisers.

If u want piece of mind, get it, if it dont matter to u and u rather get a new car if stolen, dont get it.

For the poor guy that the transponder got activated, probably some secretery in the office entered your VIN number by accident :p

I beg to differ.

Not to be rude but this is not correct information, at least not in the state of washington. A sales person makes between 20 and 25% of the total sale profet, front end, back end, etc. Thus if I sell you a acura for 10k and you buy gap and a extended warr, and end up paying 15k for the car I will get a cut of the profets on the total sale. My best friend sells cars and I have sold cars in the past. If you arent getting cash for the entire sale, you are getting jacked as an employee.

The transponder didn't go off. The early warning detector notified me that the car was being moved when it wasn't. I could see the car from my office window so I knew it was in error. Since then this has happened two other times. Right now I am getting them to come out and see if they can fix this.

It all just makes me question the use of a security device that sometimes works right. Will it work when I really need it to? Just a question I ask myself often.
