Left Light is lower?

Is it me or anyone else also notices that the left light (HID) is a little lower than the right one? I notice two sharp cutoff lines from the HIDs, the left one is a little lower...

i read somewhere else in this forum; its purposely done to respect the incoming traffic...dont know how much it helps with one light slighltly lower beam..

it cannot be "fixed". The cutoff on both headlights is that shape.

nothing is wrong with your lights. they are aimed like that so you don't blind oncoming drivers.

Mine are set that way too, but I still get oncoming cars flashing their lights at me like I hae them on high beams. The lights are intense, but I don't really think they are in people's eyes.

Check out my CarDomain site... this shows exactly why the light is the way it is.

Probably easier just to post the pics:

This is the assembly behind the lense of the HID.

I put a flashlight behind where the HID bulb would be.

great pictures. now where's the thread where a jackass was telling me that all you had to do to level the beams was adjust their height. and he was so smart because he worked at a garage.

The driver side HID light is a bit lower cause you're sitting on that side of the car and the car isn't leveled.

I always thought they should be level. When I got my car the driver side was much intense had you could notice it everytime I got behind a car. Now that I adjusted it the cutoff is even, but I still notice that everytime I hit a bump that it flickers, but the driver side seems much brighter still. Am I just being anal or what should I be expecting?

They should not be level because by NHTSA regulations, all lights on the drivers side are set lower to account for oncoming traffic. The beam itself will have that stair step by design, so unless you go into the housing and dremel down the stair step, you won't be able to make that stair step go away.

The specified offset angle is 15 degrees, btw.

listen to the man, the cutoff is built into each headlight. no level of adjustment can make it right. so quit making up these theories, jeez

I am the jackass that told you off, and no I never said anything about leveling the projector cutoff. I simply said that USDM headlights are aimed lower on the left headlight, and JDM/EDM cars are the very opposite, they're set lower on the right headlight.

And yes if you adjust the projectors, the cutoff will move, but there is no way to adjust the level to be completely flat, the projectors are made that way. That is exactly what I said in the last post. You can reaim the JDM/EDM headlights to USDM specs, but you cannot level the projector cutoff. Reaiming your headlights allows the brightest part of the beam pattern to be focus and a specific location.

I really hope this clears everything up, and I guess we were both wrong. I had no clue what you were talking about, and you had no clue what I was talkin about. But honestly, theres no need to call names.
