Last Minute Question.....Need Some Advice

I'm picking up my new 05 CG Auto w/Navi tomorrow. I went to the dealer last night to work out all the paper work. The dealer is offering me Bodyglo paint protection package. It costs and extra $299. Is this protection worth it? Has anyone on in this forum gotten it from their dealer? Any opinions on addin Lo-Jack? Thanks.

Personally, I probably won't go for it.
As for Lo-jack, I would only consider it if I lived in an area where incidence of car theft is high.

Skip the paint protection since that's just a scam, mostly.

For DC, I'd say get the Lo/Jack as added safety. Plus, it will get you a deduction on your insurance.

paint protection is bogus.

Get Lo/Jack if you want your car back after it is stolen, I personally wouldn't want the car back b/c they probably would have abused the engine.

Thanks all for the advice. I think i'll skip the paint protection. I live in Alexandria, VA. It's a pretty good area. Not too many thefts or break-ins. Any idea how much I would save on insurance with Lo-Jack?

You don't save that much. It's like an extra 10% off your comprehensive. It doesn't pay for itself, if that's what you're wondering.

bigwillie pretty much said it. I got the dealer to do the Lo/Jack at no extra cost so I figured it was worth it. Of course, that was in LA so I dunno if dealers here in VA might be so willing to do that,

You buying from Radley, Dubble?

That undercoating comes from the factory...there's nothin' we can do...

See Fargo and you'll never consider options like that again...

I'd only get Lo-Jack on a car I deemed irreplaceable. What you'll save in insurance won't be worth it when your car comes back with bald tires and torn seats only to have your agent say you are still out the $500 deductible for damages.

Damn that's expensive...

In Cali, I was quoted $500 w/installation and I talked the dealer into throwing it in for free when I got the car.
