just returned from Acura!

i test drove an '06 white, tan leather, 5 A/T, TSX. very nice ride! the info on the car. it was used at acura as a loaner. the car has 12,000 miles on it, is is NEW condition and are asking 26,990. it has a 100,000 miles warrenty, a better warrenty than offered on the new models. the guy said he will work with me on pricing...what are opinions on this?

I'd say Bad Deal. In So. California, you should be able to get a new 2007 TSX (non-navi) with zero miles on the odometer for $26,750. I understand they are offering an extended warranty, but I'd say that was a gimmick because more likely than not, you won't need it, since Honda's are so reliable. Do a little more research on pricing (I.e. www.carsdirect.com, www.edmunds.com, Etc.) before you commit.

Just my $0.02.

if you go to edmonds.com they have a acura price paid forum. the latest poster was quoted 26,990 for a brand new 2006 tsx/w nav. The way people drive those loaner cars it is good it comes with a 100,000 miles warranty (make sure you read it to find out exactly what it covers. the price seems kinda high. did you try any other acura dealers.

im just weary of the fact that it was used as a 'loaner.' there is definately room for negotiating, the salesman said that himself.

nah, for the beating that loaner car received, you are better off getting a brand new one. Afterall, Out the door price between what they quoted you and, what you can get on brand new is not much at all. In fact, I got my 06 brand new, no navi for 27000 out the door.

I bought my 06 TSX back in September for $26,600. I also agree that the loaners are often abused by people who use them. Id go with a new 07 even if the warranty isn't as long as the loaner.

Buy a new car and pay for the $100K if you want it. Don't buy a daily loaner.

^^^^ JimiThng For a loaner the price you should be going for 24k out-the-door(inc fees tax, etc) As a comparison, my NEW 2006 non-nav was $26.2k +tax etc, in NorCal last spring. I vote NO on the $26,990 price offered regardless of 100k warranty.

Don't do it. Like others have said OTD you should be paying max 24K w/ the 100K warranty. It's all used and abused by many others before you. I personally would opt for a virgin

Considering the things Ive done with loaners and what Im currently doing to a loaner RIGHT NOW (car at dealer over weekend... messed up drive shaft) do NOT buy it. I might have driven it... haha jk. But seriously. The chances are slim that someone didnt treat the car like they just stole it. Get yourself a new car for the greater piece of mind.

The way people thrash loaner cars, I don't think you would want one.

listen to everyone, unless you're getting a great deal, pass on the demo/loaner. people tend to drive the snot outta those cars when they are loaned out! reason they slapped on the 100k warranty.

When you drive a car that you don't own (rental or loaner), you tend to do bad stuff to it....both in driving as well as the interior. Aside from driving the car very hard, I tend to make a mess inside...spilling so much soda that the floor is a lake, getting alot of sand all over the inside from a visit to the beach, etc. The reason why they're selling the car in a NEW condition is because it hasn't been sold to someone. However, you know for certain that people have been using it...you should argue for a USED price, and then negotiate from there. Otherwise, don't buy that "new" car

Consensus seems to be you should pass on the 'loaner'. Funny how this thread seems to have a large percentage of replies from what appears to be the juvenile delinquent section of the audience. I seriously doubt that more than a few of the people who take advantage of the loaner program abuse their borrowed ride much more than they abuse (or just ignore) their own car (if everyone treated their loaner the way it's described here, I'm confident we'd be getting a 92 Accord (or nothing) for a loaner so fast it would make your head spin). As much as I enjoy my TSX, Acuras are not BMWs or (or even Audis) and for the vast majority of owners, they're just a slightly fancier Honda (an appliance) not the 'drivers car' we like to think they are. Again, I'll remind you all that the people who frequent this site represent just a handful of Acura owners/drivers and in the scheme of things, live in a bubble relative to all the Acuras on the road.

Also, price paid varies by region, and I've found that to be especially true for Acuras. Like any consumer product, the price of an Acura is determined by supply and demand. Where you live (and how popular Acura is in your region) may have an impact on your price also. All that said, I'd guess I'd pass on the loaner and maybe go for a leftover 06 (they're still around, though maybe not in your area). If not, and the loaner is at your maximum price point, take a close look at the car, make the best deal you can, and don't look back. Someone's going to buy that car, and a couple of years from now no one's going to know the difference and it won't matter that it was a loaner (or what you paid for that matter). And that 100K mile warranty is an $1100 item (I know, I've got it) and it's transferable (big plus for resale nowadays).

sorry but I am not one of them. everytime I had a loaner car I took excellant care of it. I washed it before I returned it. I drove it just the same way if I owned it and took excellant care of it. I also take excellant care of all my things. I do believe loaners take a beaten but they are also serviced by the dealer. I am in the senior citizens division

i wouldn't go with a loaner. for about a thousand more, you'll get the piece of mind that your car was never abused, and you also get that new car smell! my coworker had a tsx as a loaner and used the low grade gas in it.

You don't say when you got it and I assume it was a leftover, but sounds like a good deal. Perspective buyers should be aware that the M/T cars will certainly go cheaper than the autos. when it comes to leftovers; they're much less in demand (of course that's one reason why they're still on the lot).

thats just it you CANT tell it was a loaner! i am extremely picky about my car (inside and out) i didnt see any imperfections in the interior nor exterior.... i may call Acura back and low ball them b/c i am weary of it being a loaner. who knows they may bite....

BMW continues to not sell anything but their more expensive brands in NA, but they do make significantly cheaper models worldwide.
