Ipod connection

I have a 2008 TSX w/Navi. I'm looking to connect my Ipod to my head unit. I went to Best Buy and bought a connector, but it didn't fit! Anyone know where I can get one that fits?

USASpec... although it looks like they are rolling out a new line that interfaces cleanly with the Navi that you may wanna wait for(at least this is the case for Toyota/Lexus... I would assume it is an across the board line of interfaces trickling in for brands as they certify them)

I heard good thing about iSimple devices. That's what I'm picking up next after they figure out how to hook up to 3g iPhones

The hole int arm rest is goofey, you have to make shure the cable jack is small. A wide tip will not go in all the way (IE belkin cable you have to unscrew the tip to get it in). The music link kit will run you around $400 to controal it from the radio and it will not show the text info on the radio.

I was wondering has any one try hooking up the USB interfase from the 2009 tsx to a 1st gen TSX (like an 06 - 08)?

Yeah I went to Best Buy and bought everything had them put try to install it, but they said it didn't fit with the head unit because I had navi.

Didn't know it was going to be this hard to find upgrades for this car

rascal80,

Just an FYI, iSimple DOES WORK WITH NAVI; I have a 2008 6M w/Navigation and it works. The directions that come with the packaging are incorrect. My installer actually had to call Periphal for instructions. I can tell you the the cables are connected via or behind the "this is not an ashtry" console area, NOT behind the radio/navi area. Hope this helps!

07 w/nav. Isimple works fine. Takes 10-20 mins to install.

yeah a video or picture would really be appreciated..another problem i have is that in Canada the TSX doesn't come with XM, and apparently that's required for it to work..I'm screwed b/c I've got navi but no xm.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Dice unit - I have a 2008 w/Nav and I do get text on the display by using the Dice unit.. works quite nicely. If you want text, you'll give up XM, otherwise if you keep XM, the ipod will behave like a CD Changer.. if you have a 5.5gen ipod or earlier, it won't lock the ipod display. The new ipods all lock when they're plugged in to an accessory (with maybe an exception to the ipod touch.. I've heard it doesn't lock.)

The beauty of the iSimple unit is you don't give anything up, and it's more stable than the Dice unit to boot (so I hear). I have the iSimple and it's worked flawlessly from day one.

see, again i'd take either system, but as far as I know they require XM to work, something our canadian models dont have!! very annoying.

Do you know if the iSimple instructions are available online anywhere? I'm a bit curious when you say you don't give anything up if the iPod shows up as a CD changer on the head unit, or if you access it via the XM setting and somehow tune-in to the iPod by choosing an unused XM channel, and get to keep XM as well, along with getting text/track info on the head unit?

Before I go buy one of these to see if it's more stable than the Dice unit, I'd like to know a little more about how you access it and what you get.

for 2005/non-Navi
You don't give up any functions with the iSimple. AM/FM/CD changer work as usual with the Ipod added. Basically you select XM and the display will show "SAT" briefly. If you do nothing, the audio goes to XM. If you want to listen to the Ipod, then while "SAT" is displayed you turn the tuning knob and the display cycles through SAT/IPOD/AUX1/AUX2. If you stop on IPOD then the Ipod will start playing or you can use the radio controls/steering wheel controls to operate the Ipod.

The Isimple manual can be found at
http://peripheralelectronics.com/per...HD1_manual.pdf

It's a fairly easy install. Pull out storage bin, remove connector, plug-in Isimple connector, connect Ipod. See my other post for more detail.
https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-2004-2008-124/isimple-install-question-684637/

One problem I have noticed is that the Ipod stays on after the ignition is turned off. Using 3G Ipod nano - may be a Ipod problem.
