Winter Preparations
Winter Preparations
Well, we have a couple months left before the snow starts up (at least in my neck of the woods in the Northeastern US), but I thought it would be a good idea to get a thread going on this. I ran some searches and didn't come across anything definitive or resembling a general "poll" of the forums population.
For those of us unlucky enough to get snow and ice regularly, what do you plan on using for a winter setup?
I'm finally getting some winter tires mounted on my OEM wheels. So long, stock bald Michelins! I'm planning on Dunlop Winter Sport M3s, presently. It should make a world of difference.
As for ride height, I've only been on Tein SS since March, so I've never had a winter with a lowered car. I'm currently down to less than a finger gap all around; I'd love to stay at this ride height. Can anyone chime in? If I have winter tires, is there any need to raise my car?
How about the dampening? I'm at 14f/12r, and have given consideration to going to 8/8 or 10/8 for the winter months.
I plan to clean the coilover threads off every couple weeks to prevent rusting/gunking up.
West-Coast and Florida posters: I envy you guys during the months of November through March.

I've had Tein H-Tech's and all season m+s rated tires for the past 2 winters. The 04 tsx is still in very good shape, no weather/snow related issues.
I think the most important thing is to rinse the road salt away. You can clean up the threads with a rag w/ some WD-40 sprayed on it...
