To start, welcome. Next, wrong section to post in. Finally a search would help you here.

The immobilizer chip in the key and its recognition by the ECU are a match you can not break if you intend to start the car. If the ECU recognize the chip in the key, the car doesn't stop. That's all its about.

You need 3 parts from the donor car. You need the ECU, Key(s) and the immobilizer ring (located at the ignition barrel)

I believe all TSX immobilizer rings are the same... aren't they just picking up the response from the immobilizer chip?

Couldn't you just reprogram the immobilizers to the ECU with no need for new keys?

Others may be much more knowledgeable than I, but Hondata asks for all three components so I would assume all immobilizers are not alike.

You would need 3 "code matching" components to start the engine. If you are swapping ECU from another car, you have a few options.

Option 1::
1. Get the ECU, matching immobilizer, and key(s) from the same car.

2. Remove the transponder chip from the keys(s).

3. Transplant the transponder chips into an Accord keyfob (the easiest method). Check with moda_way with the transplant operation. The actual key part is no good and it won't fit the door lock or ignition cylinder.

Option 2:
1. Get the ECU (other matching components not available).

2. Drive to the dealer with the ECU.

3. Ask the dealer to install the ECU and code match your other existing components (immobilizer and keys).

Option 3::
1. Get the ECU (other matching components not available).

2. Buy a new immobilizer from the dealer.

3. Ask the dealer to install and code match all three components (ECU, immobilizer and one of your existing keys). Optionally, you can buy a new key and keep the original keys.

4. Keep the original ECU, immobilizer and key so you can easily return back to stock if necessary and sell the complete Hondata reflash package (I prefer this method).

The rings are different, unless you want to reprogram them at the dealers.

Gotcha. I reread the specs on the immobilzer unit. Somehow I missed that last time.
