Fly100 Hondata ECU replacement and Key programming

I've heard that the Honda HDS/HIM doesn't work for programming keys, and I can't quite tell if it works for doing a replace ECU command that is needed when using an 07 ECU in an 04-06 car for Hondata.

The Fly100 claims to be able to do keys, which I can confirm it does - very nice and easy too.

There are some pre-requisites and idiosyncrasies to using it though. First, you have to use Windows XP. I tried Win8 and Win7, and while it MIGHT work with the 32bit version of those, who the hell runs that anymore?!?! So grab an old netbook or laptop with Win XP and roll on.

I've found that the Fly100 can be finicky to say the least. I've found to make sure it connects and everything is seen, you'll want to connect things in the following order:

1. Turn ignition to on
2. Connect Fly100 to DLC
3. Connect Fly100 to USB
4. Open Diagnostic software

That procedure has worked for me every time with no failures.

Click the connect vehicle icon on the right side (sorry, didn't get a pic of that.)

Input your VIN and car info: (I had to choose the year of the ECU I had, not my car, since I already have teh Hondayta.

Once connected, you should get this. Choose the Honda Systems:

For the Hondata ECU swap (Make sure you have the NEW ecu plugged in already (the only issue is the car won't start, but that's what we're fixing), choose IMMOBI:

It'll sit here for a few seconds:

Only one choice here:

Select Replace ECM/PCM:

It'll do its thing, and when done, it will ask you to make sure you can start the car. DONE! You now have a Hondata capable 07+ ECU.

For the keys, the reason I wanted to be able to program them was because I wanted a key like this:

That pic isn't the best since the blank is for a ridgeline or something. I found a guy in Singapore or somewhere selling them for the TL - be warned, the blank aint the best quality and it took a locksmith a bit of finagling to get the shoulder step just right so it would work. But that's another story!

To add a key:

Back to IMMOBI, but choose keys:

The method I am using is programming additional keys with one good one. You will need the original first. It will ask how many you want to register, including the original:

Follow the multitude of steps here...I didn't grab screenshots, but its, turn ignition off, insert new key, turn ignition on, turn off, reinstall old key, etc. etc. You'll end up with the new key in the ignition, and it will ask you:

It's asking about the little green key light on the dash. It should have gone out. Then it will tell you to try both keys, and if you did everything right, the car will start with both keys, yay! If neither one works, I don't know what to do since I didn't run in to that problem, yay lol!

All in all, I think the Fly100 is a better deal than the HDS for only 20 bucks more. The ability to program keys saves money over going to the dealer any day!

You could use that but it's way over priced. I think you can find it on ebay for $150 or less.
