I'm the new guy..

Hey guys,
I am the proud new owner of an 04' TSX AT non-navi with 22,000 miles that I got for $15k off of my dad. I am very happy and can't wait to get started with some clean mods. I have previously owned a 99' civic HB with all sort of things done to it, and still own a 05' Mitsu Evo. I just have a few general questions that could really help me out. Please take into that my goal is to create very clean looking TSX and I dont want to look like a teenager going around town with loud exhaust and such. Thanks guys.

1) Is the Comptech Icebox intake the best there is for performance, clean looks, quietness and no water suck up, I live in Miami and it always rains, so I need to know it wont cause hydrolock.

2) The Hondata Reflash, whats the down side. Does it worsen fuel economy or the effect longevity of the car.

3) Does anyone else find the driver seat very uncomfortable for the area right above the tailbone. If so what can be done to make more comfortable.

Thanks alot guys...

1. isnt comptech's intake considered cold air?? just play it safe and get a short ram intake

2. any modification will lessen the longevity of the car...that's why it's not stock

3. driver's seat is fine to me. there are many threads about this though.

and the FIRST thing you should do....is use the search...cuz there is probably already a topic about any questions you have

1) It's not the best intake for performance.
2) You will get worse fuel economy because you'll hit VTEC faster =]. Our cars have high revving engines so there shouldn't be any problems.
3) There's a support thing (i forgot the name) on the chair....it's on the chair side above the glove box.

I'd recommend the first thing you do, if you have no money issue is a supercharger. That's the real way of getting hp. =]

Welcome aboard new guy!! This forum has helped a lot of tsx owners and enthusiasts. Try hitting up the search feature (seen in picture below circled in red), cause like others have stated, there's plenty of information that has been discussed already.

Nothing says "new guy" like double posting!

Please don't start duplicate threads to double-post. I took the liberty of merging your two threads together and leaving them here in the main forum for more people to join in.

What kind of performance are you looking for? Icebox doesn't rob you of low end torque like the Injen would. Injen gives you more power at higher revs. Comptech is quieter. Clean looks? Thats subjective.

2) The Hondata Reflash, whats the down side. Does it worsen fuel economy or the effect longevity of the car.
No downside I can think of. If you drive it the same then there is no fuel economy decrease. Shouldn't affect longevity but then my 04 is only 4 years old. I'll get back to you in 2011 if anything happens.

3) Does anyone else find the driver seat very uncomfortable for the area right above the tailbone. If so what can be done to make more comfortable.

Try playing with the lumbar support adjustment. Other than that, just wait until the seat cushion wears in and gets softer.

All three of your questions have been addressed before. Not to beat a dead horse but try the "search" feature.

Oh, and welcome to Azine.

Welcome, new guy! Be aware that the search feature limits you to 1 search every 60 seconds, if i recall, so when you look for old threads, start with W I D E S T criteria, then narrow your search if too much comes back.

And certainly browse the FAQs and stickies, there's a treasure trove of information there, courtesy of some very dedicated mods.

I dont want to look like a teenager going around town with loud exhaust and such.
Bravooooo!!

Everyone expects people to search but it's actualy quite difficult. You must wait 60 seconds to refine your search, it returns threads with many pages but won't tell you what page of the thread contains the matching words or even show you the phrase in which the word was found to give you idea of the context in which the word is used.

What people need to do is use Google and put this in with their search criteria "site:tsx.acurazine.com"

You need a sticky that says "here's the best way to seach to forum...". If you don't you are knowingly causing fellow TSX drivers to suffer needlessly.

X2 probably the worst "search" ive ever used

Not to mention this website is in need of a DIY section for all the tsx DIY's so you dont have to spend what seems like days searching for the right one.

Love the site just could be a lil more user friendly IMO.

Nice car; I wish I could buy one in Mass. (California smog rules in play here). Must have been at least twice the price of a new TSX though.

Somehow you're missing the big, bold, colored FAQs and DIY Information: Please Read Before Posting! link at the top of the TSX Discussion area, which leads (eventually) to this thread.

Thank you for that.
