Newbie Here and quick Tailight LED question..

Hey guys, I'm a newbie here.. from Vancouver, BC.. Quick introduction not really a car guy.. I just like to cruise in the summer time subs out that kinda guy.. Anyways, decided to join the acurazine family recently and just got a tailight issue so wanted to ask the TL guru's here what is the best to fix it..

PROBLEM: I noticed when I break, the break lights weren't on, some LEDs were off. Took it to a Shop and they said i had to change the entire circuit board.. unless I knew how to solder the electric boards.. We put it back in and now my Parking Lights (The Lights at Night) don't even go on anymore! My breaklights still work though.. Shop told me there are no aftermarket parts for this.. and told me I'm looking at a possible 400+ to replace that from a dealership... all this for a breaklight.. Any suggestions, quick fixes, vendors recommendations are greatly welcome Thx! And yes i did search on acurazine and didn't find any related issues before posting.. Thx again

yes, either solder the LEDs or get a new circuit board.

Well since my Parking lights at Night are off too.. Is it worth the trouble to Solder it? And are there really no aftermarket circuit boards? or swing by the junkyard?

^yeah, you can swing by a junk yard. I would call first to see if they had tail lights intact first. Soldering the LED's would also fix it.

the parking lights, sound like a fuse problem. you didnt really explain well on the parking lights.

You suggest me getting the entire tailight and not just the circuit board?

Well I don't know how to call it, when you turn your low beams on at night, the tailights go on in the back to be visible at night right? After taking it out at the Shop, i tried turning my low beams on and the back right isn't on anymore. When I break though, it lights up :S..

btw thanks for the help so far

You plug into the board, so if a fuse got killed, it'd kill the entire board/tail...not just part functionality.

If I understood correctly, you put on your parking lights and the led's that normally would come on dimly, do not come on, and when you depress the brake, they come on bright but missing a bunch of them.

I wouldn't bother fiddling, I'd look for a replacement board at a junkyard or ebay for sure.

Sorry not parking lights, I haven't tried the parking lights, but the night lights.. just the simple lights being on at night when you turn the low beams on..

Ebay is good? Heard mixed reviews..

I know what you meant, on our cars, the rear lights that light up with the parking signal is the parking light too...park light is on dim, when you press it, it's brake light. Used to be different bulbs...now it's just a board.

Ebay is fine, ONLY OEM boards anyway, so wherever you find them, if in good condition, they will be oem quality!
