How far to the left of the slash have you gone?

I had the gas gauge needle directly over the "E" slash with no problems. I'm wondering how much extra is in the tank.

Tons of reserve. But don't get too aggressive!

When it point to E, roughly two to three gallons left in the tank. As Jason said, don't go too far!

My low fuel light came on yesterday for the first time (I half expected the Nav voice to say something). The needle was still over the "E". I filled up and it took just over 13 gallons. That should mean I had around 4 gallons left in the tank.

It's best to keep the tank more full than empty. It cuts down on condensation and it's safer.

Is it true that for the winter, we should keep the fuel tank at least half full?

The most gas I ever put in was 14.2 gallons, and that was after driving for about 50 miles with the low fuel light on!

It's always a good idea to fill up the tank when you can. I got burned this summer when we had the big power outage. None of the gas stations could pump fuel because they had no power, and I had about 1/8 of a tank left. Luckily, I did not have to go anywhere urgently, otherwise it would have been on the mountain bike.

The gas tank on the TSX has a 4 gallon reserve. I notice that when the light comes on and I fill it up full its only 13.5 gallons used.

My Accord's reserve is 2 gallons and CR-V is 3 gallons.

The TSX's gas tank capacity is 17.1 gallons.

My First Fillup was 13.9 gallons, and the low-fuel light came on for 30 miles. I wasn't worried because the computer told me I have over 60 miles to go.

One question for everyone, do you notice the car goes into "Gas saving mode" when the low fuel light comes on? I thought I lost a cylinder! The engine feels weaker than before, since the fuel is limited. It's very pronouced in the 6MT. I know that Honda cars have that built into the ECU, but this car is a dog with low fuel. I'll refuel next time when it's 1/4 full, but that really messes up the range (I hate filling up all the time)

I did not notice any power loss. I have filled up the car 5 or 6 times now and always put in between 13-14 gallons.

I generally try in the winter not to let it get below 1/2 as I've been stuck several times in icy storms, which means long waits with an idling engine until the salt trucks come thru.

If you turn the car off, it gets iced over and you have a whole new set of problems. Luckily I've been OK, and even made a friend or two sharing a car during the storm!
