Hardwire Radar Detector Questions?
Hello,
I just got my new TSX about 3 days ago. I have to say, "WOW". I feel that I'm doing 30 and I look down and I'm donig 55.
I have a really good radar but have not put it in because the cigarette lighter is in the middle under that door (which hides it nicely).
So anyone have suggestion on how to hard wire it (ANY pictures would be nice too).
I'm OK putting it to the left side of the dash.
Should I go directly to the battery or to the fuse box?
Thanks,
Tony

So you want to put in on the left side of the dash?
If so, I would tap into the fuse box and run the wiring down the a-pilllar
Check out the link below. It's for a satellite tuner install, but you can also use it for the valentine. You're interested in the ACC aka "switched power" and the ground. You don't want the Valentine to receive constant power. (FYI - Since the radar does not draw much current it's okay to hook something up there. But I would never hook something like an aftermarket amp to the fuse box)
You should also consider just putting it in the middle of the windshield. That's where mine is. I heard it might be a little more effective there.
If you do that, you can just tap into the power in the rear view mirror like zzzed mentions. Check out my first link. That thread talks about hardwiring. You can also do a search. There are some other good installation threads around tha talk about tapping into the rearview.

Great Links
Thanks for the great links. I might be...I can do this myself.
I'm a little confused on how Acurazine serach engine works though. I searched for Radar and Hardwire but nothing even close to these links.

why would you want to put it to the left of the dash? i put mine up on the right side near the mirror where the TINT is so you can't see it from the outisde...and a cop on the drivers side wouldn't be able to see it.

The Valentine website says it's fine to mount in on the visor or top of the windshield though.

Hey Zzzed, do you still get good range front and back with the radar installed there?

as far as radar cutting off in reverse, i just thought it was cool that it did something unusual.....as far as reception up by the mirror- it is pretty good, even though it is going through 38% and 5 % tint (my entire windshield is 38, and there is a strip across the top)....for an escort 7500, the range is ok.....

Help
OK, I got my direct wire kit and the add a circuit mini fuse plug.
I understand the picture about BUT that must be from the 2004. The ground on in is in the same place but the plastic is higher. I do not have a direct path to it.
How do you take off the (and put back on) the plastic around the fuse box?
