Going nuts...

It's been over a week now since I gave my deposit on a CG/ebony, automatic, navi TSX and the dealer still has not located a car for me. I had one dealer tell me that it would be the end of May before they got that exact car on the lot. Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else? Anyone in PA have the same problem?

I think that this is common across the country except if you are lucky enough to have the car you want sitting on the lot. I waited 7 weeks for mine. In the end it was well worth the wait. If you are going to spend 30k for a car you might as well get the exact trim that you want.

Yeah, it def takes a while if you want GC/Ebony. They go really fast. Be happy you werent like me and wanted GC/Ebony and 6MT... took them even longer :-(

Is there another dealer ina reasonable distance that has one? If so, get your deposit back and make the drive.

I'm in a very similar situation as you in NYC. I want CG/Quartz with Navi auto and here is my advice to you. (1) Get that deposit back. I put down a deposit last week at a local dealership and still nothing found. I have asked for my money back today (and I better get it). They acutally promised me they would find me my car and didn't come through; (2) Call every dealer in the area and see if they have that color combo scheduled to come in and if so, see if they will give you as good a price. There are tons of dealers around here, so it was easier for me and I found one that is holding it for me for delivery in about two weeks. This was after calling about six or so dealers. Not sure how many dealers you will have to choose from. Good luck!

The dealer i bought from told me they were running a "locate" on the car to try and get it from another dealer. I did talk to a dealer in NJ and he is scheduled to have that car in a shipment at the end of May supposedly, but I never thought it was going to be over a month to get it. I would call other dealers, but I think that is already what my dealer has done...they said they're waiting to hear back from two places who have the car and haven't sold it yet. If i get my deposit back though, the process will just start over at another place.

Pete,

When I was searching for my CG 6MT with Navi, Jones Acura did a dealer search within a 5 or 6 state area and found plenty of CG/Ebony with Navi in manual.. I would imagine the 5AT would be easier to grab.. At that point they do a dealer trade to get the car, which they have to have something the other dealership would like..

My experience, again with Jones Acura in Lancaster, PA, was that they located *exactly* what I wanted (CGP, 6MT, Quartz, Navi), but it hadn't been built yet.. This Thursday to be exact ! They marked the car for their dealership at the factory and when the car is shipped here from Japan, the car will be routed to my dealership rather than it's original destination.. They say the car should be here in mid-May.. I would possibly bring this up as an option, but you are at the mercy of the build schedule of Japan (I assume)..

Again, the wait is killing me!

I ordered a ABP/6MT/Navi on December 28, 2004. It is yet to arrive. They told me it would be here on 5/18, it still has not arrived. But I am calm for some reason, I guess if I waited 4 months, what's another week. I have heard "tomorrow" for the delivery date for a week and a half straight.

I guess when I talk to my salesman tomorrow I can bring up the factory suggestion if he tells me he still hasn't had any luck. The thing is, the dealer I spoke with yesterday told me that most places will not agree to trade a CG to another place b/c they know they can sell it themselves, and it wouldn't make sense for them to take a different color that doesn't sell as well in return...which makes sense to me, but I think the dealer who sells the car should be doing everything in their power to get it to the customer as fast as possible. I mean, it's not like these cars are special edition or anything...it's a stock car ya know? I could see the wait being forever if I ordered some special version of a car or something...but I never knew this would be the case or else I would have started the buying process a long time ago. As is, it looks like I'm going to be stuck without a car for awhile b/c I have to turn my lease back in in about 2 weeks.

I agree with everyone else. You're going to have to wait for the particular combo you want since its definitely a preferred choice. Luckily I didn't have to personally order mine and wait 3 months for it. The dealership I purchased mine from had it already preordered and it was coming in, in 1 1/2 monts. So that's all I had to wait. It was definitely worth it though since it was still snowing out.

I got a loaner car for one day because they wanted to finalize the deal on that night even though the car still needed to be prepped up. I told them that I wouldn't finalize the deal unless they gave me something in return (I was going to put down $9000, so no way would I give them that without walking out the door with something).

btw. I got a 05 TL as a loaner

haha that is sweet...I am going to have to request a loaner car if this drags on much longer. And i'm not giving any kind of down payment until they have my car ready to drive off the lot.

I ordered an ABP/5AT/NAVI(it's amazing how fast I picked up the acronyms) in mid-April and was told it will be here in July. The dealer checked in a 7 state area and couldn't find any. It gives me time to sell my SUV and more time to drive my garage queen, a 2002 Miata.

That is unbelievable how long some of you guys had to wait. I did not anticipate this at all, and I can't believe how hard it is to actually drive these cars once we put deposits down on them.

Relax and take a deep breath.

A car is always worth the wait, since you'll be driving it for more than 3 years (I assume).

edit* I waited 4 weeks for mine btw (6MT/CG)

Hmmmm....we had a butt load of CG's out here in WA. Go to acura.com and do a dealer search in your area, and surrounding areas, then check out thier inventory on line for yourself. Find one, then call them and say hey, I have a deal with dealer "a" can you beat it or match it and give me the car today?

When I shopped I got the best deal from a dealership that I didn't even visit. I called and said, they ("a") are willing to do this can you beat them? And they did. I bought my car from a guy I never even looked at, only talked to him over the phone after dealing with 3 other dealerships physically on their lots.

Yep, 6 week wait here. It's worth the wait! Especially for your choice of color combo.

One problem with online dealer searches is that not all of them are very thorough. Often they tell you exterior color but not interior. Sometimes you have to click on each car listed in order to find out colors, transmissions, navi/non-navi, etc.

And some of the dealers don't have an inventory search at all.

Just my little rant.
